I have spent at least four nights atThe Shrubbery ever year for the last 48 years. In that time I have enjoyed wonderful freshly cooked breakfasts , excellent lunches and occasional fabulous dinners. The staff and management are incredibly friendly and accommodating The hotel is in need of a bit of tlc in places but who wants to stay in a soleless box. I would thoroughly recommend the location as Ilminster is a lovely old fashioned town with plenty to see and do

Just a one night stay to break up a long drive. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Clean and presentable. Didn’t eat there but very happy, no complaints.

I used to truant here when they hosted a disco and I was in boarding school, 50 years ago! Decor probably not changed at all, so it is getting very tired. That said, it is quaint and characterful and can hold its own. I thought the room charge a bit high, but I did get a bath which is rare in the days of shower only. Staff exemplary

The Historical building and the excellent conditions makes it your experience different than the standard hotel environment.
The dinner is exceptional, highly recommended.

I Stayed here science January to April almost every weekend As lm working nights for security duty. Staff is very helpful.My first complaint is every second morning room service knocking door very hard and asking if we need room service about 11am waking me up!!🤦 Why they don't have please do not disturb hanging card l DO NOT KNOW!!! Needs really improve as it's unacceptable!! My Second Complaint is Kitchen needs to be more constraint.l ordered for takeaway Rost beef and horseradish sauce,but they made Rost Gammon pigs and blanket with no sauce So l had to bring it back and kitchen was closed but receptionist found some left over beef so we swapped it!! Thanks her again 🙏 Rooms are clean beds are comfortable!!Foods are really delicious thanks very much again 😊

Good car park. Excellent room, spacious and comfortable. Main heater in room didn’t seem to be working properly but an additional plug in heater was also available in the room. Tried to call reception a couple of times with no answer (Christmas Eve).
