Oceania Please stay here. Beautiful setting. You can stay in main house, which we did, or one of the cute cottages. Quiet. Peaceful. Immediate access to private beach. All buildings are well kept and tastefully decorated. Our room had the most comfy king size bed. Fireplace. Well stocked bathroom. I can't say enough on how great this place is! We're from Missouri, USA, and I wish we lived way closer. Thank you Lantern Hill & Hollow. One little FYI...Google will direct you to Reynolds Road...WRONG! It's 2 drive ways ahead of there. Look for the white Lantern Hill & Hollow sign!!

Great quiet little escape. We stayed in the Beachcomber cottage and fell asleep to the sounds of the tide every night. It’s nestled in a quiet neighborhood right on the beach, and they’re trying to keep it a small and peaceful place, which is why they don’t want parties filled with visitors. The room was lovely, plenty of privacy, clean and well maintained. There’s the Bitsy Bean cafe and Periwinkle Cafe just down the street, and a grocery maybe ten minutes. The staff will do a load of laundry for a small fee. It’s -the- perfect quiet place to get away and not have to suffer through a crappy resort. We ate at the Keltic Lodge and checked out the place - it was pretty second rate and not nearly as nice. Would choose Lantern Hill hands down. I’d recommend ignoring most of the negative reviews on here, which sound like they’re written by Karens whining - the rules are very clearly spelled out in the email, very reasonable for a place in a small residential community, and no - no normal person should expect rural cottages to have a generator. As long as you don’t stink of American self entitlement, you’ll love this place for the quiet and peaceful getaway it was designed to be.

Wonderful cabins situated right next to the ocean. The sound of the waves while falling asleep was lovely. The cabin we stayed in was clean, nicely decorated and completely equipped with everything you would ever need. We stayed only one night but this would be an excellent place to stay for a week long vacation.

Delightful inn. Set back from a major road, up on a hill overlooking the ocean. Our room was very spacious with a wonderful view of woods and ocean. We could even enjoy a gorgeous sunrise from our bed, which was super comfortable. The bathroom offered all of the amenities we needed, and there were a sufficient number of outlets from charging phones, etc. There was a nice sitting area and fridge. We never met the owners or front desk staff, which was a little strange. But check in and departure were uneventful.

My wife and I stayed in the Oceana Guest Room for 2 nights while exploring Cape Breton Highlands NP. Pictures and descriptions on the property website reflect current conditions. We very much enjoyed sitting on our balcony, which was secluded from other balconies and had a beautiful view of the ocean. Location is great for exploring the park and is near to excellent hiking trails. Directly on the Cabot Trail. Fronts a beach that is great for a long walk or just sitting in a beach chair and watching the waves roll in. Close to several restaurants and a small grocery store. Property claims to be 4-star and I would say it is as nice as any 4-star hotel I've stayed in. A prior review expressed disappoin**ent about self-catering suites. I can only surmise that there was confusion between the cottages (which are self-catering) and the guest rooms, as I found the Oceana Guest Room exactly as pictured and with the amenities listed on the property website.

WE spent 4 nights in the Moonbeamer small cottage which was very well appointed in a glorious location in a small group by the beach. This is quality accommodation with every piece of equipment you could desire. The area is glorious with views and trails from the Cabot Trail all around and the access road easy and quiet. Contrary to expectations, the food offering in the area does not match the standard of this accommodation. The only walkable dinner option is Crofters Table at Glenghorm which was a disappoin**ent. Everywhere else involves a drive. The best coffee shop/breakfast was Salty Rose's Periwinkle 4 km away. The other local dining options were very ordinary apart from the Purple Thistle at Keltic Lodge where you paid appropriately for quality food. We questioned whether we should have stayed in one of their cottages and had the restaurant to hand. Lantern Hill was a great experience. We brought in breakfast materials and other guests used the available barbecue equipment. The management seem rather distant and hands off on arrival but issues were quickly addressed. The only blemish is the absence of available quality catering which may be less important for others. We would closely consider Keltic Lodge if returning.

We stayed here for three nights having booked it months ago. The cottages were a bit large for our needs so we booked one of the 3 “suites” in the main house. The site and communications from the owners stressed that this is a “self catering” place, which we were looking forward to. So it was with some surprise, and dismay, that we found that for this place “self catering suite” means a nice hotel room, with minimal facilities. A keurig coffee maker, an electric kettle, two mugs, and a few dishes were all we had for “self catering”, not at all what I understand from the term. I strongly encourage the owners to clarify this in their communications with people who have booked the “suites”. Otherwise this is a lovely place, great beach, and the on-site staff very helpful when contacted.

We stayed in the White Sands room at the main guest house. It was beautifully furnished and we were able to enjoy the ocean sounds from our bedroom. Were able to walk to the beach and enjoy the water. They have a beautiful garden and sitting area around the guest house. We had a nice gas fireplace to enjoy in the living room. The only thing I would recommend would be to provide 2 bottles of complimentary waters in the room since there are no restaurants on the property. Restaurants are only a 5 minute drive away. And maybe a fire pit by the main house. Highly recommend staying there.

Lovely stay at the main house great room. Very clean with a comfortable bed. Be prepared though- the food selections in the nearby area were not great nor plentiful. Limited places serving breakfast, and dinner spots nearby were average at best. I do believe that the cabins had kitchenettes and a grill which would help . That being said, we knew that going in, and still enjoyed the lovely area. We did drive by the Keltic Lodge another nearby option we had considered, where there were a few different eating options, which we did not try, but after driving through we were happy we had not chosen it as it looked rather tired.
