The Nomad Motel - International Falls, MN - Near Canadian Border

This hotel is right off a main road heading into International Falls. (I have night ear buds, so road traffic didn’t bother me.) It was comfortable and clean. Loved the firm bed. The bathroom was SO clean and nice! It was easy to retrieve my key, and a question I texted to the staff was answered within minutes. I really appreciated the extra lighting. Had a mini-fridge/freezer, Keurig, and microwave. Would’ve appreciated a desk to work (there’s just a small table and two chairs), but I was only there one night. I would definitely stay there again!

Excellent stay, super clean!

This motel was easy to find and in an area where we felt safe. We were very happy with our stay. We arrived to a nice , clean and comfortable space . Check in was very easy and everything went smoothly. We will definitely be back.

We loved the charm, affordability, and cleanliness of this updated motel! We needed a place for our family of 4 to sleep while we visited family over the holidays, and this place was great! My only complaints are that the shampoo bottles had teeny tiny holes and it was super hard to get anything out, and there was a heat detector on the wall that had a really bright flashing green light when it was dark. But these are small inconveniences! Overall, the ease, the decor and lighting, the comfy beds, and the convenient location made The Nomad a great choice!

It’s a simple budget hotel, very clean and easy to get to. We’re just passing through so it is exactly what we need tonight. The check-in was a little different being completely remote but I was impressed with the clarity of the instructions and we got help by texting and were able to resolve our questions. I miss the face-to-face interaction but was very pleased with the price!

Great stay even though it was quick!! Would stay there again

Room was uncomfortable, has put a do not disturb sign on door and maid keyed in. Keep telling her not to come in and she did anyway. She persistedly kept bothering me on my whole stay. Was not a vacation when being bothered during the day. Flies in room and outside window in bathroom. No one to contact after hours. No clean linens or supplies for the bathroom. Would have preferred to stay at the new Wyndam motel down the street since I am a Wyndam rewards holder. Garbage laying outside doors and side of building.

On the day of check-in, I got a text with instructions. The door to my room (an exterior door) would be unlocked and open and the keys would be hanging on the wall next to the door. As a female traveling alone for work, that raises a red flag. When I arrived, there was a group of men smoking and drinking in the parking lot and hanging over the railing. Again, as a female traveling alone, it raises a red flag. Especially with my room unlocked all day. I got in my room, did a check to make sure it was just me in there, and decided it would be fine. The room was recently renovated and everything seemed nice UNTIL I took my shoes off. The carpet was damp and squishy. I walked around the room and the entire carpet was damp. That was it for me; I left hoping to find a room elsewhere. Since there is no front desk or lobby, I texted the number they gave me saying I was leaving and wouldn’t be staying. I gave them the exact two reasons why: one, the security and safety is suspect at best; and, two, the carpet being damp was gross. I also sent an email with the same information. It took over an hour for them to respond that they would not be issuing a refund because “I left without giving them a chance to fix it and I demanded a refund.” They feel that their check in process is fine because the motel is in a “small and safe community.” They also tried to explain away the wet carpet by saying it was probably a spot cleaning area from their crew from earlier today. It's a nope from me.
