Irun 1-Star Hotels

We have stayed at Ibis Irun many times, although not for a few years. Its ideally placed, near to the toll motorway and is perfect for travellers either going North into France or South further into Spain. Its not near the town, but if all you want is a bed for the night its clean & comfy, food in the restaurant was reasonable, there is a secure gated surface car park and they accept dogs. However, on this occasion there are some issues, I want to raise. The hotel is currently housing several families of Ukranian refugees and whilst we applaud the Spanish governments reponse to the refugee crisis and Accor Hotel's help with this, I do not think that unruly, unsupervised children should be allowed to play on bicycles & scooters in the public lounge (which is not very large) when weary travellers are trying to relax with a drink. The outside terrace was similarly not a place to relax with some of the older children playing loud music on mobile phones. We had driven a long way that day to reach Ibis Irun and relaxation was simply not possible. I would also point out that allowing very small unsupervised children to play in the carpark was extremely dangerous for them and a couple of times there was some very near misses with cars coming in and not expecting to encounter small children in their way.

This family-run guest house is located 1.5 km from central Irún and 15 minutes’ drive from San Sebastián. It offers a garden with fruit trees and great mountain views, and rooms with free Wi-Fi. All rooms include a flat-screen TV, a hairdryer and an electric kettle. There is also a shared room with a microwave and fridge available for guests. You can walk to a number of shops and restaurants within 5 minutes. Ficoba Convention Centre is a 10-minute drive from Caserio Gure Ametsa. The beaches of Hendaya and Hondarribia are also around 10 minutes' drive away, and Royal Golf Club is 5 minutes away. Ventas de Irún Train is 500 metres from Caserio Gure Ametsa. You can drive to San Sebastián Airport in 8 minutes. Free parking is available on site.

The hotel is located in the centre of the city. There is a 24-hour gasoliner in front of which you can buy anything you can, and it also has a recreational/ruleta machine room up to 23 a.m. in the same hotel. A couple of drinking machines at reception (including beer). We were given a free coffee, which was easily changed to a hot colacao, very nice girl at the bar.

Excellent hotel for night stop as driving through Spain and a France. Plenty of free parking around hotel which is set away from roads. Welcoming and friendly staff at reception. Spacious and clean modern rooms and bathrooms. The hotel has very good and delicious selection of typical Spanish breakfast food to choose from for those not wanting the set hotel breakfast menu. Dog friendly hotel and with separate seating area. Hotel is also within few minutes drive of large shopping centre and supermarket.
