Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort Adults Only

The resort has a very cool modern and natural feel, views are great. And many if the employees and trying very hard. That is all I can say that is positive. The check in process was very slow and disorganized, and overly complicated. The food is actually gross- with the exception of the coffee bar, bread baskets and desserts . The meat was inedible , the time for a dinner was 3 hours both nights because food came out so slowly . We had upgraded to the premium club , and they did not have any premium drinks available. The bar tender get bad, however he had not control over the situation. The entertainment is very cheesy - and unnecessary. The pools were a lovely temperature, but needed cleaning. The bright spot, there is a little beach bar with swings/ they had no food- or good drinks- but it was a lovey spot to have a bottle of water. The wine they serve at dinner is worse than 2. Buck chuck, and if you want decent wine you have to pay crazy prices- a bottle of whispering angel rose was $120 usd!!! And a bottle of spray suntan lotion was $44 - so your self a favor and stay away

The staff were excellent. You can’t get bored, we did many activities with Carlos and Felix; they made everything more enjoyable and were super professional. Juan and Antonio were also great!

The service and staff were overall very good. The alcohol selection and food were also pretty good. They lacked in overall entertainment. The property could use a facelift. The access to the beach is not the most convenient. Also, they did not acknowledge any VIP status with ******* at all !

My fiancé and I enjoyed an incredibly relaxing and pampering week at secrets. The entire staff was amazingly friendly and attentive, and we were very well taken care of.

Overall a good stay, First, the positive: the staff is always smiling and helpful. Great and consistent service around the beach and pool. Jaime takes great care of the pool area and makes sure chairs are not reserved but unattended for hours. The waiters on their part are always present to take your orders. Jazmin at the beach is exceptional: she is always there to make sure you have everything you need. Valentina always greets you with a smile at the buffet. The front desk was very helpful when we had a small issue with the room and sent someone promptly and called back to make sure everything was fixed. Nice. This being said the food was ok but nothing to write home about. If you like the buffet, you will have to go at Dreams for dinner because it is closed at dinner time on the Secrets side. And it is very noisy at Dreams, I thought the best restaurant was Himitsu (not Hibatchi which you need a reservation but is at the same location). You have to play the chair game like everybody else if you want a spot at the pool or beach for the day. Get there early or you will be like these poor souls walking around with a towel in their hands and looking for a place to sit. Could be more chairs and umbrellas by the beach maybe that would help the situation one would think. I usually stay on the positive side but I could not pass under silence the experience we lived when first got to the resort: Check in was a breeze but after they send you over to the VIP services so you can be offered discounts on massages, dinners and whatever. I wont name the person but our representative got literally mad at me when I kind of smiled when she took out what looked like Monopoly money and said : this is your leisure money that I can give you or whatever. She said I should not smile, this is money and why I think it is funny, She was pissed off I am not kidding. My husband just said that we were tired and wanted to get to our room. Should of said that at the beginning. She really ruined my first afternoon with her attitude even if the whole thing lasted 15 minutes. This selling eagerness leaves you with an impression of a second grade hotel, She even handed us a file with an appointment for another time (without consulting us) and of course we did not go. Another negative is the music and entertainment around the pool but we prefer the beach so no biggie for us. I do want to finish this review on a positive note because overall, we did have a very nice vacation. The grounds, the beach are beautiful and the service staff amazing.
