Thistles on Skye

AMAZING STAY. Thistles on Skye was the most comfortable accommodation we have ever stayed in. The views were spectacular, location great, big kitchen with everything needed. David was a great host, always available and super sweet. Thank you!

Incredible! One of my absolute favorite stays ever, feels like we hit the jackpot! We stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage this August. It was IMMACULATE. Large well appointed rooms, so thoughtfully decorated. Huge comfy beds, fluffy robes, beautiful baths. And the views are absolutely stunning. Sat out on the slate patio each morning with my cup of coffee watching the sun rise over the water to the sound of bleating sheep and mooing cows off in the distance. Lovely gardens with sweet smelling flowers and plants. David and Frances are amazing hosts, providing suggestions on activities - took David's advise and booked a whale watching tour out of Elgol. Walked down the hill for Sunday roast at the restaurant, and returned the next evening for drinks in the pub. Excellent food, friendly people, great drinks. Will definitely be back again! This place is magic. Thank you for such a wonderful time!

Really enjoyed my stay at Thistles. The cottage is beautifully furnished and it was just as nice to have the fire on when weather was poor as to sit out on the patio when weather was fine. The cottage is very well located, in the most accessible part of skye with local pub and excellent shop/cafe close by.

As we were planning our trip to Skye, we had one condition; our base and home for 2 weeks had to be somewhere that we were happy to stay indoors for the inevitable times that Skye weather wasn't being kind. The Croft at Thistles on Skye was exactly what we needed: from the home comforts; the luxurious baths (with views!); the fully equipped kitchen; the wood burnimg stove to keep us warm on cool evenings; not to mention the walk-in wardrobe, just to feel a little more spoilt. We could not have picked a better place! We hadn't been to Sleat peninsula before, its beautiful and has so much to offer, and only a 15 min drive away from Broadford! We hiked, cycled, wild swam, kayaked, climbed, found a cave with a pool and just chilled, our list of things that we want to do on Skye might have grown rather than shrunk! Ps, the Sandy Bay on Point of Sleat is most definitely worth a visit for a wee swim, or just to admire. The food and seafood on Skye is just ah-may-zing, and it's always a treat when you know you're staying close to a lovely Bar/Restaurant just a 20 min walk away. Frances and David, could not have been more helpful and welcoming. They looked after every detail in the house and kept us right with their local knowledge, we feel that we've made new friends. All in all a fantastic staycation, made memorable by the delightful hosts and their beautifully renovated Croft. Highly recommended, totally instagramable, scenery to die for, and a great mental health wind down. Whatever brings you over the sea, you'll never forget your stay at Thistles on Skye. We have just enjoyed the most wonderful, peaceful and restful week at Thistles. It was just a fantastic place to stay. As self-catering accommodation goes, this one is hard to better. Minor cleaning issues on arrival were quickly rectified by the attentive owner and after that it was the most enjoyable time we have ever had on the Isle off Skye, in 40 years of travelling around Scotland's highlands and islands. The two large king-sized bedrooms (both en-suite) were most comfortable and the beds were ideal for a good night's sleep. There was every conceivable bit of kit you could ever need in the kitchen and once we had come to terms with the electric Aga we relaxed, deeply. The views across the meadows down to the Sound of Sleat were comforting and ever-changing from the wooden seats on the patio and the picnic table down on the lawn. The four of us have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Thistles for a relaxing stay in a beautiful and peaceful part of the island. The hotel down the road does wonderful meals, especially the lamb.
