Point Napier States

We had 2 nights booked but they had a problem the first night so they booked us in another hotel and picked our luggage up the next day victoria very helpful Would go back good breakfast good choice

We arrived and the room was dirty, there were cobwebs all over the windows and the bathroom was dirty too- the room/hotel had a very old musty smell and that was with the windows open! We returned after eating dinner at 2130 to find there was no water- my husband searched for someone for ages and eventually found someone who said they knew there was no water as there had been a leak- this was not communicated with us at all! They did find another hotel for us but we had to be there by 2200- half an hour to pack up and move! The 2nd hotel was much better. Point Napier estates agreed to pay the difference in cost which was the correct thing to do- I have waited a week- no money! I contacted them and received a very sarcastic email back that was totally unnecessary - saying as it seemed so important to me they’d send a cheque! The amount isn’t the important thing it’s the principal - we never even had an apology for our inconvenience!! I would avoid here at all costs

This hotel is nothing like that advertised. We had trouble finding it, there is no sign for Point Napier Estates, but a very faded one for “MacKinnon House”. When we walked into our room I could have cried. We have been staying in hotels for over 50 years and have never encountered one as bad as this. Our room was filthy, there was poo all around the rim and down the toilet, I don’t think the carpet had ever seen a vacuum cleaner and was very badly stained, the curtains didn’t close and were falling down, etc. etc. etc. When I complained I was offered a cancellation and refund and was told that they would book us into the hotel down the road. I told her that everywhere was fully booked, so it was then suggested that they either cleaned our room or we went elsewhere, we had no option but to take the cleaning of room offer. When we returned the room had been cleaned. At no time were we given an apology, but we’re told several time’s that it was after all a budget hotel! Surely even a budget hotel should be cleaned between guests! The following morning we had breakfast, the lady serving us was rude to both ourselves and the couple we were traveling with. Our friend asked if they had green tea and she snapped his head off saying, once again, that it was a budget hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE!!

When we initially pulled up in the car park I thought we had the wrong place, first impressions were it looked derelict and run down. Nothing like the website! The inside replicated the outside, tired and in need of urgent, drastic repair. When we got to the room I looked out of the window to be greeted by cobwebs, dead insects and dirt all over the window frame. The fridge (not even switched on) had rotting, out of date meat free sausages in it? The carpet appeared to have been fitted by Stevie Wonder due to the spikes underneath being exposed. Quite dangerous for small children or bare feet. The shower had no water pressure so the water barely trickled out. We were made to feel like an inconvenience at breakfast, the menu was tiny, as were the portions. The porridge (what there was of it) was dry and tasteless, the 'scrambled' eggs were clearly made with powdered egg and was served on a tiny piece of dry toast. This place needs a visit from the hotel inspector! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Put a big downer on what was otherwise a great holiday.

On arrival, I was "met" by a diminutive lady who did not offer a "Welcome" or did she say who she was I had to ask if she was the proprietor or manager, something inaudable was muttered from behind a mask! I said "we have come to book in" She replied Booking in is at 4pm (the time was 6mins to 4) It went downhill from ther!! Damp and peeling wallpaper and clear signs of mould on the ceiling to the side of a dangerous stair door which opened ONTO the stair( without any room to stand on the tiny landing) I complained about this, and whist complaining was informed ifI was unhappy I was informed that my bookoing would be cancelled I said that would be fine once alternative accomadation was foun She then told me "NO" it WAS canceled and I would have to leave with immiediate effect!! Leaving us without any accomadation at all!!
