We arrived off the Amtrak train and wondered what we had come to, the area is run down, empty shops, homeless sleeping under the railway bridge, not a good first impression, the hotel is on the corner of the street, building is old and suffering wear and tear. Cannot fault the reception and door staff on our first day they could not be more helpful. The hotel is a different matter, lobby toilets only one sink had running water and no hand towel. Breakfast no milk on second and third morning so could not have cereal. There also got less and less choice of fruit, juice and yogurt, Out of the cooked breakfast you got scrabbled egg, something they called sausage but looked like a small burger, grits? which had no cheese in on third day, bacon which they only had on the first day. The room was not cleaned every day which I would expect from a Hilton hotel due to the price we paid. We had to share a hand towel. Carpet did not look that clean, yellowing grout in the shower and disgusting headboard. We stayed in better low cost hotels on our touring holiday in the Mississippi. I would not recommend this hotel.
