We stayed at Alpine House since it was completed and established by Nancy and Hans. At the time it was (and still is) a unique and singular establishment. Not a typical “hotel” where wasted opulence is mistaken for comfort. In fact what was amazing is that from the moment we parked our car outside and walked in fist time 10 years ago or so (late and after hours) - we immediately felt as if we have been there before. Grabbed our envelope with keys and info and started our vacation stay immediately relaxed with few snacks left in the dining room area just for us including hot tea etc. If you are expecting huge rooms and even bigger TV then the place is not for you. If you desire quiet, clean and functional “European” style spaces then you are exactly where you should be. We have been there as a couple and with kids when they were “grade school” and now 18+. Some rooms have a real loft space - so even the 18+ (clearly stil kids that they want to be :) love that and despite compact area they can have their own space to cozy up and disappear from parents or each others hair… As a couple we had rooms with bigger bed, fun gas fireplace with neat trim and definitely alpine feel thanks to nice woodwork- instantly relaxing and romantic. Bathrooms v clean etc. Breakfast- served early, made to order from fresh ingredients, is the best and deserves its own separate review. Totally relaxing, I drink some coffe, eat a bit while I wait for the fam to get ready and come downstairs, check the bus schedule and then with some nutrition in you … you are ready to be dropped off by the bus at the base of the Tram :) (or “First Tram” if you are serious about the snow as we are) After the mountain one finds themselves often hanging out in “common spaces” chilling, reading or sometimes when we bring takeout, eating while sitting at a proper table in the dining room with silverware that’s not plastic and on real plates - so then rooms don’t have to double for “kitchens”. There is sauna that we often warm up in & with adjacent shower, massage room so one can schedule a local masseuse to come to treat your sore back after skiing. Robes and towels are there etc. Ski room has space for your gear and its right by the door so there is no shlepping your stuff up and down :) Hotel is literally 2 blocks away from all transit so we never use our car once there to get to the ski mountain - super convenient. Fun restaurant accross the street and dozen others within walking distance including Million Dolar Cowboy Bar if you like to play some pool with the locals, Miazga’s, Liberty Burgers, Pinky G’s Pizza, Cafe Genevieve’s (ohh that reuben…), Bin 22 (holly mozzarella!) and so much more…and make reservations for Blue Lion if there is need for nice formal dining (ahh that elk steak…) We are so happy that the original concept of quiet, practical and cozy with shared spaces concept has been maintained under new ownership and seems like some additions are coming this year to make “tha
