The Thinnai Hotel Jaffna

My wife and I had a lovely 2 night stay at The Thinnai in a fabulous Nelli room. The hotel is set in a peaceful and calm atmosphere. The whole complex is clean and well maintained. Excellent restaurant serving an excellent breakfast and a sensational lunch time crab curry! Our stay coincided with my birthday and a number of staff surprised me with a cake, flowers and a rendition of happy birthday, which made for a happy and memorable birthday. Special thanks to Dilakshi, Sadeepa and chef Gideo for the special porridge that he arranged for us.

We had a wonderful stay at The Thinnai on Palali Road in Jaffna. From the moment we arrived, the reception staff were extremely friendly and warmly welcoming, which immediately made us feel comfortable. They were also very accommodating with our requests and changes, which we really appreciated throughout our stay. Our two-bedroom suite exceeded expectations, spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The property is well located, making it a convenient base for exploring Jaffna. Their restaurant was also nice, offering good quality food, though slightly on the pricey side compared to other options in the area. Overall, the combination of great staff, comfortable rooms, and a pleasant atmosphere made our stay very enjoyable. Would definitely recommend.

From the moment I arrived at Thinnai Hotel, I felt genuinely welcomed. A massive shout-out to the receptionist staff, Princi and Vithursha, who were incredibly warm, friendly, and hospitable from the very beginning. They immediately made me feel like I had chosen the perfect place to stay. The suite room was absolutely fantastic — spacious, beautiful, luxurious, and very comfortable. The pool area was also excellent and added to the overall experience. Later, I visited the bar for a few drinks and tried the hot cuttlefish, which was delicious. The barman, Rokeerththanan, provided outstanding service throughout the evening. He was very informative, attentive, and made some excellent recommendations. He recommended their special “Only in Yal” cocktail, which he personally prepared, and it was absolutely amazing — definitely one of the highlights of my stay. What impressed me most was the level of hospitality and service from the entire team. They accommodated all my needs, including a late check-out, and every request I made was handled more than promptly and professionally. I truly felt looked after and valued throughout my stay. Overall, the service was top-class from start to finish, and the experience was worth every single cent. Sadly, I’m only staying for one night, but I will definitely return again for a much longer stay. A huge thank you and big shout-out to the staff and management for doing such a fantastic job. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back again!

Spacious, modern and clean rooms. Even greater restaurant with local Jaffna food on the menu to choose. We had a crab curry cooking demonstration that we definitely recommend. Very friendly hotel and restaurant staff.

On arrival, the beautiful warm Tamil greeting set the tone for our stay. The staff were extremely helpful, efficient and made our stay memorable. Our rooms were a pleasant surprise, separate bedroom and living area, spacious and comfortable. The restaurant has a great menu...try the Thali.

We had the most wonderful 2-night stay at The Thinnai Jaffna to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and it truly exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, the hotel felt excellent — warm, cozy, and inviting, with a spacious and beautifully appointed suite that was perfect for unwinding and spending quality time together. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the authentic Jaffna cuisine. Every meal was a delight, bursting with rich flavors and traditional touches. The Executive Chef and the incredibly attentive Saranya took such good care of us at Amudham and Rokeerththanan and Tharunram at the bar. The team clearly puts heart into everything they do. What made our anniversary truly memorable was the thoughtful and creative surprise the team arranged in our suite. It was such a beautiful, personal gesture that showed real care and effort — we were genuinely touched. A very special thanks to Roshanth, the General Manager, who looked after us exceptionally well right from the beginning. His warmth and attention to detail made us feel like valued guests throughout our stay. We left feeling completely refreshed and pampered. The Thinnai Jaffna is a true gem in Jaffna — we highly recommend it and can’t wait to return!
