I recently spent 8 months staying at the Benjamin Prescott Inn while working on a construction project in Jaffrey New Hampshire. The accommodations were excellent, and the location is on a major State Route and convenient. The Inn Keeper, whose name is Chris, is very friendly and attentive. He always had hot coffee and tea brewing, and the breakfast each morning was fresh and made to order. There are plenty of great restaurants in the immediate area. My favorites were name Emma's Tavern and The Monadnock County, both excellent with many great meal options and all home cooked meals.

We had a nice stay here & loved the Saturday morning breakfast. Yummy waffles & bacon! The inn keeper was friendly & kind, our bed was comfortable, the rooms warm & quiet. We recommend it for a visit to the lovely Monadnock region.

This is a beautiful property with a very homey feel. The service by the host was incredibly warm and attentive. He not only wanted to make sure I was satisfied, he took my order for a custom breakfast the night before. The only downside to the stay was the rooms were and furniture were showing their age a bit. This is often typical at B&Bs, so just know to expect that for this property.

This is a lovely character property with quirky charm. We spent a few days exploring the area during fall color season, which was beautiful. The manager, Christopher, was very helpful in offering suggestions directions. He also cooks a great hot breakfast - blueberry waffles - yum! Thanks for a great stay, Chris!

I booked a room here for my granddaughters wedding , then I read some recent reviews and was a bit concerned, so I didn’t have high expectations. I was very pleasantly surprised when we arrived rather late in a rain storm and this very friendly fellow Chris greeted us immediately. He showed us to our room and we were done for the night. The next morning we came down for breakfast expecting at least coffee, not much else. He served a wonderful meal made to order. He indicated he’d been on the job only 7 weeks and he was loving his new position! Chris was so personable and I feel he will do well as the Inn keeper here. I would definitely recommend this Inn and I believe you will be very happy and pleased when you visit.

We've been coming to the Benjamin Prescott for the past 20 or so years - usually for a long weekend in late summer or fall. We were a bit distressed last year (2022) to find that the new owner was not on site, as others have noted. But, we were delighted to discover this year that there's a new innkeeper, Chris, who has taken over with great enthusiasm! Welcome, Chris! We stayed in our favorite John Adams Suite on the third floor, and everything was great - clean, comfortable and warm on a chilly, rainy weekend. Although I'm too late a riser to have enjoyed it, Chris made my husband pancakes and other breakfast items that he raved about. I appreciated the fully stocked tea area and use of the microwave in the dining room - perfect for heating up my late-night snacks and beverages. As always, the serene view of Sawyer Farms and the overall peaceful vibes soothed our overstressed selves, and provided the perfect backdrop for trips to Kimball Farm, pumpkin and syrup stands, and the shops of Keene. We wish Chris much luck in revitalizing our favorite NH escape and are already looking forward to next year's trip!

Arrived 30 minutes after time for check-in. No on-site manager, had to call to get code to enter inn. Downstairs dark, tables not cleaned in breakfast room. Found key Znd went to room but found it in leaned from previous occupant. Called manager who tried to tell me I could take another room and I insisted on the room I had contracted for. Manager said he would call cleaners but had no idea when it would happen. I told him this level of poor service and cleanliness was completely unacceptable and I was leaving and expected my payment to be refunded . Would not recommend this unclean, depressing inn to anyone.

I’d stayed here twice before and was delighted. This time I brought two other couples but was disgusted to find that, not only had the inn been sold, it had been sold to an investor who lives 90 miles away. Breakfasts are no longer the gourmet delights that Ruth had prepared; they are “continental style,” which means prepackaged waffle “bites,” day-old, cut melons, stale pastries, bread that you get to heat in a disgustingly dirty toaster (like the disgustingly dirty microwave), all offered up by a grumpy, disheveled guy who is clearly cynical about the whole arrangement. Everything was dusty, the shower curtain was mouldy, and not much is being kept up. Check-in would’ve been confusing, since there was no one there to greet us, except that I called the owner before arrival to arrange to pay for my friends; that’s when I found out that you now basically check yourself in and have to find your way around. I was quite embarrassed to have recommended this place to my friends. No way is the new owner going to get repeat business the way he is running things! At any rate, he won’t get mine.

My wife and I had stayed here 5 years ago and enjoyed a wonderful experience and amazing food. We decided to treat ourselves to the experience again and looked forward to the trip. We were unaware that Jim and Ruth had recently sold the inn. We should have read the reviews and been wary of the pay up front policy. We arrived Friday night and had to let ourselves in with a code. There was no one there. Keys were left on a desk to pick up. The inn was unkempt and cold. Food was left out in the common area in plastic wrappers with uncovered butter at 5pm. No longer was there a gourmet breakfast, but Hostess coffee cakes, Belgian waffles and a Keurig coffee maker. On the weather board was a report that Christmas day was clear. It was late January. We called the number that was written over the previous owners and the "gentleman" that answered sounded annoyed and was rude, at one point saying *you're not worth the headace" when we asked for a night's refund for a 2 night stay (did I mention it was pay ahead?) He told us he would refund a night, but as of this writing, not only hasn't refunded us, but actually charged another night. We are contesting these charges and have gone to the BBB. We grabbed our bags and left without even staying the night. Thankfully the Woodbound Inn was more accommodating and they salvaged out weekend. We, of course, told may people about our experiences with the Benjamin Prescott Inn while enjoying the Woodbound Inn. The new owners of the Benjamin Prescott Inn have no clue, nor do they care, about running what was once a great bed and breakfast. Sad that a great Inn fell into their hands.
