Ladera Resort

We stayed at Ladera as part of the Peak-to-Beach package for our honeymoon in May 2024. We did the package in reverse and started at the beach (Cap Maison) and ended at the peak (Ladera). We had really high hopes for Ladera, but we had such an incredible experience at Cap Maison with really amazing staff that unfortunately Ladera just didn't live up to it. The room was beautiful and the views you get of the Pitons are unparalleled. We were there during one of the hottest weeks of recent years so not having AC was extremely challenging. The hotel did provide us with a standing fan upon check in and we ended up asking for a second one which they did give us. We were very worried about mosquitos but the netting around the bed was fantastic and the staff lights citronella candles at turn-down. We got more bites at Cap Maison than we did at Ladera. We stayed in a Heritage Suite and loved the swinging chairs in the pool. The pool itself was quite chilly, even when it was so hot outside. The pool guy did ask us if we wanted the heat turned up, which we said yes to but it never really got warmer. The staff was not very outwardly friendly. When we would ask for help or to book a tour, it seemed like we were bothering them. Service was also very slow, both in the restaurant and at the pool. Service on the island is generally slow, but Ladera's was something else. We were at the main pool for 3+ hours one day and someone came by once to ask for drink orders. You are supposed to be able to order food and lunch at the pool but that was just not possible with the service. We ended up going up to the bar in the restaurant to order but even that seemed like we were annoying staff. We felt so special at Cap Maison - they would write sweet messages on desserts and wished us a happy honeymoon every time they saw us. Ladera did not do any of that to make us feel special despite them knowing we were on our honeymoon. The restaurant is just ok. I don't think the all-inclusive package is worth it because the food will get old and there are a lot of other options near by so you can go off property. I am also gluten free and the staff didn't seem to know what could be made gluten free. I asked what my options were at lunch once and the waitress told me I could get the grilled fish of the day or the grilled vegetables. Two options for what we were paying was incredibly disappointing. We spoke to the front desk after and they seemed surprised that options were so limited, so I think the restaurant offers more but the staff just isn't knowledgable. We did do the wine cellar dinner with a premium wine tasting and that was fantastic. Jeremy was incredible and we really enjoyed that experience and would highly recommend to anyone celebrating something special. One big benefit of Ladera is the location. You are 5-10 minutes from the Sulphur Springs and Mud Baths experience. We also did a sunset sail where we saw 20+ dolphins who swam with our boat for nearly 20 minutes.

Excellent front desk response with consistently helpful staff and always smiling! Views are outstanding and to view majestic mountains and Ocean from the absolutely private pool in the room. They gave us a phone to contact them from anywhere in the island including to call for any help in the room if needed. The trails were good but hectic. They arranged for all the excursions and it was painless! We loved our stay and the views were phenomenal and the staff without exceptions were excellent!

Our stay at Ladera was nothing short of enchanting! We spent almost a week in this paradise on earth. The grounds were meticulously maintained, and the view from our room was simply breathtaking. We couldn't resist taking countless photos of the mesmerizing scenery! Throughout our stay, the staff were friendly and professional. While I wouldn't classify Ladera as a top-tier luxury hotel, it undoubtedly ranks among the most splendid places we've ever had the pleasure of staying. Each morning, we woke up to the tropical sun, birds singing and the gentle caress of the jungle breeze. What an unforgettable experience! Although Ladera features only one on-site restaurant, it exceeded our expectations (as some reviewers mentioned it was repetitive). While we ventured to dine at a few other places, including the Sugar Beach Resort restaurant, none could rival the culinary delights we found at Darsheen. Despite the several bug bites during our stay, the allure of the open-air rooms was worth it. By the way, the room was equipped with insect repellant, after bite, eye mask, earplugs, binoculars, etc, and the US power sockets. I wholeheartedly recommend Ladera to anyone seeking a truly magical retreat. From its idyllic setting to its impeccable service, it's an experience not to be missed. 😊We plan to come back 😊

Everything was perfect as far as the stay. Benton was the best driver the resort provided us for our entire stay. Great experience and looking forward to going back

First of all a thank you for putting a bottle of champagne and a plate of chocolate dipped fruit in our suite to acknowledge my wife’s and my birthday on the same day. Also the view from our Rainbow Suite #A2 was absolutely perfect as it is from the breakfast and dinner restaurants. We do have a few suggestions however and hope you will take them in the spirit in which they are intended - as constructive criticism to make Ladera even better. The first is something that doesn’t cost anyone a penny but makes a huge difference - train your restaurant servers to smile -it’s the very basis of hospitality. Frankly they made us feel as though we were disturbing them being there. While on the restaurant you might like to upgrade your jams at breakfast, which come in tiny portions and have the consistency of baby food. Now on to the suite - having one side open is an “interesting “ feature, but in such a hot, humid climate you need more floor fans and on both levels - ours was a two story suite, plus on our sole floor fan both the speed and oscillating buttons were broken. We did, as always, love having our private plunge pool and in the oppressive humidity used it a lot. By the way you need to fix the plug in the bathroom sink which goes down but doesn’t come back up and the hot and cold taps are reversed. The maintenance man came but could not fix it. These may sound like trivial things but at $1200 a night they should not occur.

Unique outdoor adventure!

We thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the staff. The groundskeepers liked to share their knowledge of all the plants on the property. Reception staff was always available to help with transportation to and from destinations. I'm glad they give you a cell phone for use during your stay. Each room is different but they all have the in room plunge pool overlooking the bay. Because we liked the Dasheen restaurant, we never had to venture outside the resort to try other restaurants. Althought the resort was fully booked it never seemed crowded and you didn't run into many other guest while wandering the property. The hiking trails around the property led you to some wonderful views of the Pitons and ventured to unique areas around the property, like the tree house.

The views from Ladera are amazing. The staff at Ladera are amazing. They catered to us in every way possible. I spent most days in the pool enjoying the views of the Pitons. HOWEVER, it was the nights. I've never been camping, not fond of bugs but I assumed I could manage it for a few nights... but they were front, right, and center; I underestimated what I was signing up for. I have more bug bites than I'm able to count... and this is with me killing the lights, being behind the netting, when not in the pool, and having the citronella candles lit. I wore bug spray, but the bugs prevailed. While I love Ladera, I'll likely never return (home now and still welting from some bites), but I'm glad that I got to experience its glory.

Don’t have enough good things to say about Ladera. From Melissa at the front desk to Ray the gardener, the staff was incredibly friendly and always helpful. They were extremely accommodating in helping us make our honeymoon perfect and always made sure we had a safe ride to and from where we wanted to go - even when we made last minute changes to our plans. I cannot wait to return to this resort, it is truly something special. Feel so lucky to have been able to stay there!
