This is the worst hotel experience I've had in two decades. And a shocking price to pay for the condition of the facility. The hotel next door is 10x better for roughly the same price. The entire hotel is incredibly run down, but I can live with that because the grounds on the water are beautiful. I checked in Wednesday evening. The check in people were good, and the woman that tried to help me with my problems was kind (but ineffective). The fitness center was pushing 90 degrees, our room was 80 degrees with no functioning AC, our TV didn't work, we had no phone (despite the front desk telling me there was one and they'd call me on it to address my concerns - there was a phone line hanging out of the wall with no phone), and the toilet flushed itself and ran the entire time we were there. We asked if maintenance could come take a look at roughly 5:30 after we had checked in. By 8 they had never come, and despite the nice woman at the front radio'ing maintenance and claiming they were on their way...they never came). I asked to simply move to another room as we wanted to go to bed, but that was impossible given the state of the room. The woman at the front desk said she needed manager authorization to do it. I said OK, but after 45 minutes we still had no new room to go to and never heard from the front desk, or a manager. Eventually we were forced to simply leave the room and hotel and go pay an outrageous last minute rate next door. But it was worth it. I asked to have the manager call me so we could make sure I was refunded. As I write this, I still have not heard from anyone. I would hope whomever is running the hotel would have more pride in its condition, and empower their staff to make decisions that directly impact the quality of the guests stay.
