Sandown Guest House

Thank you for the great hospitality. I enjoyed my stay. The hostess is great. The breakfast fantastic. Clean room and attentive to detials. Secure parking. Enjoyed eating breakfast on the garden terrace. Will defnitely stay there again.

Beautiful, well-appointed guesthouse. The area is pretty – very green – and quiet, but also close to the Sandton city centre. My room was lovely, clean and comfortable, with a spacious bathroom, complete with robe and slippers. I had a balcony overlooking a large, beautiful garden. Lovely little touches in the room and bathroom to make you feel at home. Beautiful communal kitchen and braai (barbecue) area if you want to eat in, but plenty of excellent restaurants within approximately 10 minutes’ driving distance. There are also facilities for very good coffee, and there is an array of drinks on an honesty-bar basis. One of the highlights was an amazing staff member named Rugare, who welcomed us warmly, put heaters on in our rooms as it was very chilly, was available on the premises and on WhatsApp for any assistance needed, and made us a delicious breakfast in the morning, taking extra care to meet my vegan dietary requirements. I would stay at the guesthouse again with pleasure.

The number one thing we loved about this property was the private courtyard we had access to when we booked the king room. It was perfect for us and our two small dogs. Great location. Room was good size. Nice breakfast service. Property is located in a quiet neighborhood, but very close to the most desirable destinations in Sandton. I highly recommend the property. We will visit again!

I stayed one night at the end of November, was booked for two but had to check out early. Negatives: - The place is nothing like the pictures - the outside looked tired and inside all the lights were off when I arrived. There was no warm lighting or ambience and certainly no warm welcome. -The member of staff I met on arrival was cold and unwelcoming which made me feel ill at ease and set the tone. - The place was dirty, particularly the kitchen - fridge had trays of mouldy fruit in it so I decided not to opt for breakfast. - My balcony was filthy and the seats unusable as they weren't covered adequately and were soaked on arrival. - Place was eerily quiet, apparently there was another guest downstairs but I didn't hear another soul and the one member of staff was barely around. - bad smell of drains in my ensuite from both the sink and toilet. Positives: - comfortable bed and clean bedding - good location -very quiet but like I say, missing the buzz of fellow guests and friendly staff that you'd expect in a guest house. All in all, a very strange experience and I couldn't wait to leave. It wasn't like staying in a guest house but rather renting a room in a large house with no one else around.

Excellent service and room was great. Breakfast was excellent. Having such good coffee makes a massive difference in the morning. I would recommend a UPS for wifi access during loadshedding, especially for business travellers

The room is spacious and well appointed. There was a shower and a bath with a separate toilet in the room that I stayed in. The shower has strong water pressure which I appreciate. The wifi worked well but note that there was no backup power supply when load shedding occurred. Breakfast was very good and the service by the lady that greeted me and served breakfast was excellence. I had one negative and that was that the satellite TV (DSTV) was not working on my first night. Despite sending a text message to one of the parties named on the notice in the room, this was not addressed until the next day.

Very beautiful and comfortable, had a great night's sleep, enjoyed the power shower and fresh home made breakfast, Warm welcome, I got upgraded, it was a lovely room, the service was very friendly, the owner was very helpful with queries, giving helpful tips and was accommodating, he even dropped me off where I needed to be as it was on his way, overall friendly service and a gorgeous garden, property is great for alfresco dining and overall outdoor living. Location is perfect, close to the buzz of Sandton but still quiet with lots of trees & birds! I booked on a special deal, so it's was definitely super great value !
