All round fantastic. Great gardens, refreshing salt water pool, relaxing salt water hot tub, well equipped kitchen, and comfortable beds. Generally nice enough we were happy to pass many hours at the lodge rather than exploring further afield on the Island (though we did that too).

Beautiful, tranquil spot. I was very busy with tourist things during my stay & didn’t get to enjoy the hot tub & pool. Next time! I would definitely recommend this for those who aren’t interested in the hustle-bustle scene.

I was initially concerned w/lack of air conditioning and then noticed the Banyan Tree Sanctuary is at a higher elevation with beautiful weather and breezes year round. Funky, older furniture but comfortable bed, clean and very spacious room. The view of the coast is fantastic and they have their own nature trail around the property where you discover a hidden tree house and other hidden gems.

This is a truly marvelous spot. The grounds and gardens are spectacular- the jacuzzi pool and sauna are always open and made every return to the hotel so relaxing after a day of adventure . If you’re planning excursions in and out of Kona but want to avoid staying in the tourist town, this is a perfect location. There’s a private kitchen and lovely bathroom and comfortable rooms. I’d like to take the balcony home with me…if only!

Banyan Tree Sanctuary is only about 20 minutes from the airport and offers easy access to the north, east, and south, and yet it feels a world apart. I woke up with the birds in the morning and went to sleep listening to the frogs at night. The grounds and the ocean view to the west are stunning. Best of all was the feeling of calm and peace that I enjoyed because of the environment Rae and his friends have created for their guests. They combine amenities like a salt-water pool, jacuzzi, and infrared sauna with an emphasis on sustainability and stewardship of the land. I spent four nights in the Ocean Vista Suite on the top floor and loved its large lanai with a dining area and "living room" area. The suite also has a complete kitchen with breakfast nook, appliances, cookware, utensils, etc. I wish I could have stayed longer and hope to stay there again.

Need a place to sleep for the night near Kona. Banyan Tree Sanctuary was a quiet, beautiful place. My room was big and comfortable. I watched the sunset from the lanai. Very peaceful. Everything was clean and cozy. I did not use the pool or common area with an outdoor kitchen for I was not there for every long. Rae was quick to text me and available by text. Rae had another commi**ent and she left a note on the entrance which directed me to my room. Beautful place on the end of a quiet road. Highly recommend to stay.

Very beautiful surroundings. Beautiful gardens at the facility. Awesome distant view of miles of seacoast from the Lanai outside our Sunset Suite. Beautiful sunsets. The Sunset Suite has a kitchen, so we prepared quit a few meals and ate on the Lanai at sunrise and sunset nearly every day. So restful and quiet. Get away from it all, No television, No radio. No bar, No restaurant, No gift shop. Just a place to relax, meditate and enjoy the natural beauty. There is a saltwater pool, spa and a sauna. Easily accessible, located off the beaten path, Only 5 miles from the airport and 5 miles from Kono. The Sanctuary is on 3.3 acres of flowers, trees and orchards. Free fresh fruit from the orchard available every day. This is Paradise and the owners Benjamin, Maggie and Rae are their every day to lovingly care for the facility and grounds and assure that your stay is an experience you will cherish for a lifetime. There are only 4 guest houses available so there were only 6 to 8 other guests on the property during our 7 day stay. There is a nurture trail that is a little challenging but worth the effort. If you love peace, quiet and nature you will not find a better destination.

It was extremely quiet, we didn't have time to enjoy the pool, hot tub or sauna but everything looked very inviting

We found the Banyan Tree Sanctuary perfect for our Big Island experience of 8 days. It was our home base for day trips and wonderful place to relax, reflect, and get the deep breath of refreshment we were looking forward to. It also met our budget with comfortable lodging and access to kitchen where we made most of our meals. The view each evening of the setting sun in the Pacific was breathtaking.
