Located in the center of Kailua-Kona, it is a very convenient location as you can reach the beautiful townscape in just a few minutes on foot.
The cleanliness of the room was decent and there were no particular issues of concern.
As we were a family of four, it was appreciated that there were two bathrooms when getting ready in the morning.
Breakfast is included, but it is eaten outside, so I am a bit concerned about hygiene.
Honolulu has a lot of Japanese people and does not have an exotic feel, but Kona is not like that and is known as a sunny town, with good weather most of the year, making it a highly recommended city. I think it is just right for those who are planning to go to Kona and want to sleep in a hotel.

This Holiday Inn was well worth it, Free Breakfast, Friendly Staff and very clean. Pool Gym Vending Machine. Rooms was very big with 2 beds and a pullout couch/bed. Sink refrigerator microwave. Reserved parking!

For a downtown hotel the Holiday Inn Express seems an ideal and efficient location. My downstairs room was spacious both in the living/sleeping area and to an extent also in the bathroom. The closet was efficiently behind a very large mirror. A mid size refrigerator was present. The staff was very welcoming at checkin. Common areas were very clean and inviting. They had a small outdoor pool. At night, the floor in my room got very wet and a bit slippery even though the A/C was on at about 70 degrees. Quick drying clothes that I usually was in the evening to be dry in the morning were still soaking wet. Noise from neighbors was clearly audible. I used the WiFi and found it more than adequate to get some business work done. Parking may be tight when the hotel is full but the spaces are of good size and well marked. The parking area looked really clean and well maintained, which I could appreciate. The biggest negative I had with my downstairs room was the lack of a privacy screen. People in the parking area (and those walking through) looked straight into my room. The blackout rolling blind did not completely block out light on the edges.
