We, an adult couple on vacation, chose the Westin based on photos and reviews. We were not disappointed by the location, beautiful grounds, or friendly staff/concierge. The room was nice and clean. By most measures, a great place to stay. HOWEVER we were not aware that all of the rooms at the Westin are adjoining (this was told to us eventually). In our case the room’s entry had bare walls and a tile floor with that connecting door to the neighboring room, which acoustically amplified everything going on. Unfortunately for our stay we had two different parties in that connecting room that made being in our room disappointing, waking us up in the night and early mornings with kids screaming and adults being sick in their bathroom. We had to make several noise complaints. The staff was nice enough about it but it’s a variable outside of their control, and it isn’t anything we considered when booking. I’m certain the one neighbors were doing their best to calm their children, and the others didn’t intend to get severely sick their first night in Kauai- but it’s the luck of the draw and for the price, we didn’t have one uninterrupted night of sleep. Really not trying to sound like a grumpy old man, but if you’re sensitive to those things maybe you’ll find this review helpful. If you’re a family traveling, or a heavy drinker, you’d likely not bat an eye at the noises. We spent the majority of our vacation at an Airbnb just down the road from the Westin that was Fantastic, inviting, and quiet when you just want some peace- and realized that was the better choice for us.
