The male receptionist is very rude, unfriendly and impolite. Once we arrived, we had our bags, he didn’t come to ask whether we need hands to help carry. The welcome drink he left on table without greeting asking to drink until I asked is it for me? . He let one of us down there without any welcome drink. When he brought me to the room, he still didn’t help to carry the bags. The day I checked out, he didnt even say thank you when I passed the key. He only said “ oh check out? The key please“

The staff were so friendly and took extra time and care to learn our names. They always checked if we needed anything, and the views were beautiful. Rooms were basic but clean and well looked after. We have stayed here many times and love the serenity and also the food and drinks menu is delicious. 🤤

Kampot has a ton of cute boutique guesthouses - trust me, we've stayed in a lot of them - but Sabay Beach might be the best. The riverfront room has a private dock, and because it's a bit further up river the water is cleaner and there's less traffic. The balcony is perfect for soaking all the Kampot nature. But even if yo don't stay in the riverside room you'll find plenty of amazing places to put your feet up and watch the river flow. The restaurant has amazing food. Pay more to have the breakfast included. They also have kayaks that are free to use. We had an early morning paddle that was completely relaxing, but also great exercise (we decided to get a sweat going on the paddle back). If you want a quieter, nature-filled stay, in a place where the river is clean and swimable - get out of the town, zip past the green cathedral area, and go to Sabay beach.

I didn’t stay here but I was staying nearby in Kampot. Had a Google punt on some good local food and this came up. The food is genuinely exceptional in every respect. I’m from the UK and I’m a bit of a foodie so I’ve done a broad spectrum of restaurants including Ivy Asia and this place has the most memorable cuisine I think I’ve eaten, and I don’t just mean ‘by Cambodian prices’ (although inevitably the food is considerably cheaper than in the UK). The attention to detail is fantastic and the flavours are so focused and clean. I had the duck spring rolls, beef lok lak, and panna cotta and came back two days later to have the same again. Obviously I haven’t sampled the whole menu but I’d put money on the other options being just as good. The staff are excellent and the bar/restaurant itself is a breathtaker as you walk into it. I cannot recommend this place enogh. A tuk tuk from Kampot centre will cost you about $2.50. Absolutely fantastic in every respect!

Staff were kind and accommodating but we checked out within a couple hours of checking in. I do not feel that the photos on *********** and social media accurately reflect the accommodation. The communal areas are rundown - and wanting to use the hotel as our main base, it was not an acceptable standard. For us - British but lived in Cambodia for three years - it was not child-friendly/safe. The entryway is great and we were excited as we stepped into a tropical jungle, but we were then met by steep uneven steps up to the reception/dining and communal area. Our four year old did not like them and refused to walk up or down. The view was brilliant of the river, but the flooring was sloped down in the seated areas with a single rope acting as a barrier. We could not relax and let our daughter walk around this restaurant which was a shame as we were so excited from the reviews. The floor below was a hang out spot but everything needed a refresh/wash/replacement. There was a playpen in the middle but the toys were dirty and some broken. Better to have more space for sitting. This floor also had uneven floor with some gaps. The access to the jetty space had a drop too high to safely get down, let alone with a child, and we didn’t feel we could access the kayaks which was a large part of wanting to stay here (due to the ladder drop). None of it felt safe enough. We left our bags in the bedrooms. They were clean and had mosquito lamps inside. The bunk bed was lower than pictured showed and it looked like very little space on the top bunk due to low ceilings. Having been on the river before, I can highly recommend the green cathedrals and if I had come single and looking for an adventure - I would stay here. I also brought my dad (mid60s). He was not impressed that the 2nd storey room had holes in the wall/brick so mosquitoes were in the room. He hit his head on the low beam (1st floor) - staff kindly gave a bag of ice for the lump as we checked out. We were given a 50% refund because we had checked into the rooms. Staff manager was very cordial and professional, but disappointing that the line was ‘cancellation policy is 2days before arrival’ for full refund given the circumstances. I didn’t see any reviews warning about suitability for children. I hope improvements can be made for child safety. I would like to stay here as the setting is so beautiful.

This small Resort was an amazing experience as the location is the middle of the Kampot countryside so it is very calm and peaceful. The setting is beautiful with fantastic views over the river. Although some of things we found to be a little bit “rustique’ this somehow added to the charm of the place. Personally, I would say the best thing about this Resort is the food. It was absolutely fantastic with a wide amount of choice & variation, and beautifully cooked and presented on demand. We will definitely be going back for another visit !
