Room: alright bed and pillow. fairly spacious. lockable box. Bathroom: female dormitory has a shower and two sinks and I think two toilets, which is fine for a dormitory of 8. all clean and working. body wash, shampoo and conditioner, and towels supplied. decent hairdryer. . Security: pin on hotel entrance and dormitory room . Amenities: . Location: really close to the train station but not noisy (or maybe that's just coz it was rainy when I went).

I chose this hotel specifically for its proximity to JR when I went to see the cherry blossoms earlier this year. Facilities: I remember the elevator goes straight to the second floor for check-in. Service: There was a young lady who was very good. Plus, they offer free luggage storage. Environment: The transportation is quite convenient. We even took a bus to Yobuko.

It's not far from the train station. It's on a shopping street and the building complex has multiple entrances, so it takes a little time to figure out the direction. You need to get into the elevator and go upstairs to get to the lobby and rooms. The interior of the whole building complex is pretty cool, and I think it's a new project. There is a cafe and a souvenir shop on the ground floor. And a cinema, it seems. I think it's a good choice for travelers visiting Karatsu.

All in all is good in the area for this price range. One shower in the 8 beds dorm could be too little if most needs a shower in the morning before checking out by 10 am

Escaping the high hotel prices in Fukuoka on a Saturday, I took the subway for an hour and a half to Karatsu and chose this hostel. The experience was great. It's in a small city, just a five-minute walk from JR Karatsu Station. The front desk had instruction manuals, and the staff's English was fine. The check-in iPad supported Chinese. The room had two separate restrooms and one shower room. The bunk was spacious enough, with a small individual locker for valuables. Everyone was very quiet, hardly making any noise. With earplugs in, I slept a full eight hours.

Close to the station and generally very clean. Everyone was very considerate. The black tea at breakfast downstairs was particularly delicious; it had a unique aroma. There are many great restaurants nearby, and everyone was very welcoming. Karatsu was my favorite part of this trip.

The room was clean, hygienic, and comfortable. The ambiance was elegant, warm, and romantic. It's conveniently located very close to the train station.

Double room, the bed was a bit sunken. The front desk service was very friendly. There was enough space to open our luggage. The breakfast, while simple (toast and coffee), was free and tasted good. You could also pay extra to upgrade to other options.

Decent room size for Japan. Mattress was comfortable. Lots of eateries just downstairs. Would be good if there were more power sockets in the room though

Great place for stop over in Karatsu. It is close to all restaurants and the train station.

KARAE HOTEL boasts an incredibly convenient location, right in front of Karatsu Station. The ground floor connects to a cafe, a Chinese restaurant, and a creative Japanese Omakase spot. Izakayas, the century-old Takeya Unagi restaurant, and a tofu shop are all within a 5-minute walk and offer delicious food. Upstairs, there's even a mini cinema and co-working space, so you'll never be bored, even on a rainy day. I stayed in a female dormitory bed, and the space was well-designed, simple, and clean, with no strange odors. Each bed had a curtain for excellent privacy, and the mattress and pillow were very comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. There were power outlets and a small lamp by the bed, along with a space to put your phone and valuables – the details were very thoughtful. The public areas are also worth mentioning. The toilets and showers are separate and very clean. The communal kitchen isn't large but has all the basic facilities for simple heating or making instant ramen. The laundry room has coin-operated washers and dryers, making it convenient for longer stays. The entire space is quiet and welcoming, perfect for solo female travelers. Double rooms are also available for couples or families. Downstairs, it's just a 3-minute walk to catch a bus to Yobuko, Karatsu Castle, and Niji-no-Matsubara. The service is very personalized and attentive.

The hotel is in a very convenient location and overall the place is quite clean. Our room did have a noticeable smell when we checked in, but having an air purifier in the room helped manage it. The staff were friendly and pleasant to interact with. Overall, it was a good stay with just a minor issue.

Very quite, functional and clean place. Also the location is fantastic. Wish that the dorm room had one more shower booth.
