Matildas End Holiday Units

Lovely place to stay. Walk to the shops, pub and boat ramp for a fish. Clean and comfy cabins and facilities. Having a laundry, clothes line, pool and fish/boat cleaning area were great! Caretakers were so lovely and friendly. Made us feel very welcome and at home. Book directly through them for a cheaper rate.

The old saying you only get what you pay for. Photos are very deceiving. It was clean. No hot water for a shower. Needs a good refresh and refurb. Suited to fishermen. Not suitable for over 60’s. Bathroom which includes shower toilet, handbasin is in bedroom are very small to get around. Would not recommend.

unfortunately I could not find any other accommodation. the place was clean and the manager was friendly. the place is old and basic. the lounge was like sitting on a block of concrete and the bed was terrible. you can hear through the walls and the floor shakes when the people in the next room move around. it may be alright for fishermen but I would not recommend it for couples

The negative reviews and 2.5 star average rating for this motel is not consistent with my experience. Donna was super friendly on check in and would wave hi when she saw me, even when I was eating across the road at Mick’s Cafe. Yes, the rooms and fixtures are old and a bit tired but for $112.50 a night for a double and single bed in one room, kitchen facilities inc stovetop and all cutlery and utensils, the place was very good value. It’s also across the road from Mick’s Cafe, 5 minutes drive from the barramundi museum, and Karumba Point is a 10 minute drive. You can access the Norman River for fishing just down the road as well. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

The reviews of this motel almost deterred us, but we found it to be fine for a night. It is an older motel but everything was in pretty good condition and the air con worked fine. The room was clean and the beds comfortable and the bathroom had plenty of hot water and a good shower. A laundry is available for $5 wash and dry and there is also a washing line available. Right across the road from Micks Cafe.

The positives are the units are a reasonable size with a reasonable size kitchen with a smallish bathroom ( vanity in bedroom). AC The units are in a good location The negatives The pictures of the place are deceiving as the units are dated, the yards are mostly unkept, all fixtures are well worn and tired, our unit had broken chair, a door lock not working correctly, no sound proofing between them.

The furniture, buildings and surroundings are tired and rundown. A kitchen chair fell apart and other furnishings have not aged well. The advertised pictures were clearly taken some time ago. Murray, the resident manager was friendly and the unit was clean.
