I was looking for a few days of quiet and relaxation after a packed safari with friends and this was exactly what I was looking for. It's a small property which means everything is just a few steps away, including the beach, but without skimping on amenities or privacy. Not always an easy balance but well done here. I had a queen room in the "Iliki" villa. The room itself is pretty small. Their website says 30 sq meters (approx 325 sq ft) but the bed is in the middle of the space and the closet is a wardrobe in the room. There is no additional floorspace and no other seating other than a small stool at a desk. The bathroom is spacious though, with a nice walk-in shower and lots of counterspace. Bath amenities are spartan - there was exactly two towels in the room, one bath towel and one hand towel (in addition to a bath mat.) I very much appreciated the A/C in February. My room was on the first (ground) floor and had a semi-private patio, with a lounge and table and chairs. There was also a shared dip pool. It was really convenient to be able to walk out to the pool/beach BUT it also meant other guests were using the lounges in the area in front of the room. On my last morning, hotel workers were cleaning out the dip pool and were lounging at "my" table, talking on their phones, etc. I would definitely ask for a second floor room -- better views and privacy assured. I ate all but one meal on the property and the food was, overall, excellent. Their simple grilled seafoods were excellent. Their European dishes, like the bouillabaisse, unfortunately didn't translate as well. Still, I appreciated that everything was obviously prepared with care. Breakfasts were "continental" plus a main dish made to order, like eggs, French toast, etc. There is a nice bar, excellent coffee. The menus aren't extensive and there didn't seem to be any "specials" and I was content for a few days but, any longer, I would have wanted more options. I booked a snorkeling tour to Mnemba Island thru the hotel. As it often is, prices are for a minimum party of two, so I paid double (with a tiny discount) to go by myself. Still, for a private tour, with transportation, gear, and a boat/guide to myself, the price was reasonable. I was took advantage of a free reef walk at low tide. Highly recommended. The beach here is beautiful and, at least in February, quiet with very few people and no hawkers. One last note. There were a surprising (to me) number of families here and quite a few kids. Not an issue for me but there were a few "exuberant" times at the pool. Just a heads up that this isn't an 'adults only' type of property.

Zanziblue made our stay in wonderful Zanzibar special. We can only thank the entire always smiling staff for their kindness, helpfulness and attention which made us feel fully on holiday and relaxed from the moment we were welcomed and throughout our stay in the HAKUNA MATATA mood. The structure is pleasantly organized with small single villas or with a few lodges each... all the accommodations have an enchanting view of the beach and the sea, with the sound of the waves which pleasantly accompanied our awakenings, surrounded by the soft relaxing colors of the Sunrise. The stretch of coast where Zanziblue is located is subject to the fascinating phenomenon of the tides... in our opinion one of the wonderful aspects of this island... which allows swimming or long walks depending on the time of day. The beach on which the resort overlooks has such white and soft sand that it seems like flour and the presence of beach boys and Masai characteristic of Zanzibar is anything but massive, unlike other areas of the island. The whole structure is well integrated into the surrounding natural context and lush nature, in local style. And then there is the Mzee Husa restaurant and its chef who allowed us to enjoy excellent meat and fish cuisine with an "a la carte" choice with which to vary the lunches and dinners of our stay, in a really refined, with the possibility of enjoying the delicate and delicious dishes even on the tables on the beach with your feet in the sand and with the sound of the waves in the background or on the rooftop of the structure under the starry sky. In short, thank you Zanziblue for helping to leave Zanzibar in our hearts. Kwa Heri Zanziblue Michela, Italy

We had the perfect end to our honeymoon with a 5 night stay at Zanziblue. The staff were all so helpful and friendly from start to finish. The rooms are stunning with a perfect view of white beaches and the bluest of sea. Particular highlights were the food - the chef is exceptional and meals are very reasonable given the quality! We also enjoyed the spa and the therapists were really excellent. There are lots of activities to do if you stayed for a week however it is also the perfect stop to relax by the pool or sea! Thank you Cristina and team for such a lovely stay - we hope to be back!

Beautiful resort, nice beach beds. But don't expect to be able to swim a lot in the sea, this is only possible at high tide. At low tide you can take a nice walk with the guide through the low water to explore the underwater life. Beautiful starfish, sea urchins and some coral were seen.

Zanziblue is literally a home away from home for me. I’ve been coming here since 2016 when Christina started with just one house. Her kind reputation and character have allowed this place to grow to be something truly unique and amazing. The location is quiet and fenced from the beach, allowing tranquility - while also being beachfront and steps away from the beautiful Indian Ocean. The restaurant and Chef are renowned around the island. The staff members are all incredible. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I can’t say enough good things about this place!

Amazing hotel. Very friendly and accomodating staff. Nothing is a problem to them and always with a smile! They dont expect tips as well which is cery nice to see! They are very prone to meet all ur needs. Hats off for the chef! The food is absolutely fantastic and u feel more like in a restaurant! For couples i recommend to ask for a room on the first floor! Its not a place for you if u like a lot of going on.. This place is calm... More like a get away far away from noice. Rooms are clean and spacious.
