Hotel is a bit old, and not many facilities for kids. Not many car spaces provided.

I went to Australia in winter and unfortunately encountered a rainy day. I bought a mountain view, but it was very foggy and I couldn't see the view. The environment, food, and service were good.

First of all, I am very satisfied with the place. It is in Huntervalley, surrounded by vineyards and wineries, and the air is so good. The whole person is fresh and 🈶️energetic, and there are cows braying at night, which makes me feel like I'm in a fairyland! Overflowing with happiness! Especially worth coming to see.

Friendly staff, fast check-in, rich breakfast, convenient transportation, beautiful scenery, nearby supermarkets and coffee shops. The restaurant has everything you need, and there are Chinese-speaking waiters, which are very good for Chinese tourists.

I stayed here five years ago and loved it to bits. This time was TERRIBLE. DO NOT BOOK THE NEW ROOMS. I had rooms in the main building last time and while they are old, they were built at a high standard and were very comfortable and give that lovely old hotel/resort feeling. It’s all soft carpet and solid walls and wall paper. Just gorgeous. Marble bathrooms and old art on the walls. Love love love. This time I thought I’d try the “newly renovated” rooms that had a fire place. But. They don’t tell you these rooms are out in an old building by the MAIN ROAD. You have to drag your own bags out all the way down to the main road, in the RAIN. It’s like you’re in the crappy car garage the parents renovated for the teen kids to get out house. It’s not as good as an AirBnB because you don’t have a kitchen like an actual house. You’re just in one crappy room with almost no decor, a cheap crappy bed head and a bathroom that looks like it was installed by a friend of a friend. It’s a classic landlord hack job of a renovation. Everything is leaking and rotting and full of mould. I got to the room and was absolutely devastated. I had booked two nights as respite mid way through a gruelling month long work trip. I had been in terrible hotels and motels and air bnbs and decided to spend $1400 on two nights of loveliness. Only to be greeted at the reception told to turn around and walk to a mouldy old room on a main road that had zero thought to the design and no care to those using the room. I called the reception and expressed how unhappy I was. They said they were fully booked but they could move me the next day in the morning. But then it took until 2pm to actually get the room. It was so much better and I’m grateful they did that. Frankly the only reason they have the stars they do it because they moved us. To me the newly renovated rooms have been made by someone who can’t see why people stay at Lilianfels to start with. They don’t understand you’re there to feel the rich old world charm of a resort. You want the feel of being in a ski field wealthy home, not a crappy airbnb with no kitchen. I understand they have that old building and they want to take advantage of it, but they’ve failed. Completely. It should be redone as two rooms one on each floor. Fill the two suites with antiques and lovely things and put a porter on them so no one has to lift a finger let along drag their bags out through the rain. Then charge anything you like. I’m not sure I’ll go back. Certainly not in their new rooms. Such a terrible shame.

This is a very friendly, olde worldy hotel which is ideally situated on the top opposite Lady Darleys walk which leads down to Prince Henry’s cliff top walk (note over 100 steps). From there you can either walk left to Echo Point and the Three Sisters, or right to Katoomba Falls. We also drove from here to Laura and other vantage points such as Sublime Point and Gordon Falls. We had a room which overlooked the mountains. We also booked the dinner package for 1 night where we had a very good meal at Echoes restaurant next door (the lady piano player was amazing!)

We had always wondered how the Lilianfels experience would be, so we went in September. The staff on arrival were extremely courteous and couldn't do enough for you. The room was large and you could open the windows which I prefer to having the air conditioner on the whole time. The bathroom was roomy with a nice big shower with good pressure and big thirsty towels. The only thing that was a disappointment was some of the food from the Lounge bar kitchen where we went every evening. The staff there are awesome but a couple of things from the kitchen were a let down. We had high tea at 3.30 pm the first afternoon and didn't eat for the rest of the day it was lovely especially the orange scones which didn't need any adornment. The second night I ordered a chicken Caesar salad as I wasn't very hungry. The chicken was so dry I had trouble trying to swallow it as did my husband when he tried it. I returned it and was offered alternatives but declined politely. Unbelievably I found myself returning another dish the next night. Our three nights at Lilianfels was a big splurge so I thought I'd have a medium rare Black Angus with Bearnaise Sauce. Perfect! ....Not! The steak was cooked to medium to well done (closer to well done) it seemed to have been cooked sous vide so didn't have the seared steaky look or taste. As soon as I saw the tub of "Bearnaise Sauce" I knew it was that revolting commercially bought rubbish from a can/jar/bucket, it smells revolting and tastes horrible too. That stuff has been finding it's way into cafes and restaurants and being passed off as Hollandaise/Bearnaise sauce. Very disappointed to see that a 5 star establishment such as Lilianfels has begun to use it, you should be making your own. There is NO substitute for those types of sauces. Sorry to rant but these are easy fixes.
Response from Property: Thank you for sharing your experience at Lilianfels. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our courteous staff, spacious room, and the lovely high tea—those orange scones are indeed a favorite! We sincerely appreciate your candid feedback regarding the food in our Lounge bar. We are so sorry to hear that the chicken Caesar salad and Black Angus steak did not meet your expectations. Your comments about the Bearnaise sauce are particularly noted; we understand the importance of serving high-quality, homemade sauces, and we will certainly review this aspect of our menu. Our management team will be in touch to discuss your feedback further, as we value your insights and want to ensure a better experience in the future. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback. We hope to welcome you back soon!

We recently stayed 3 nights at Lilianfels. Over the years I have stayed at the hotel on a few occasions however I really feel that it no longer lives up to the standards of 5 star hotel - in particular service levels with a lack of follow through on very basic requests and the rooms are looking well worn, in particular the carpets. Pluses included location - very convenient to Echo Point, Scenic World and Katoomba however don’t expect to see valley views from the hotel common areas or the majority of rooms. It does have a beautiful old world charm and stunning gardens. Other downsides were the lounge was over run all weekend with outside guests coming in for high tea also this ensured parking was at an absolute premium. We had a lovely few days away, and I do love the ambience, but it disappointingly lacked the polish of previous visits.
Response from Property: Hi Brooke, thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your recent stay at Lilianfels. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the location and the charm of the hotel. We appreciate your comments about service levels and room conditions, and we will address these concerns accordingly. We hope to have the opportunity to make it up to you in the future.

This hotel captures the essence of an escape to the mountains. The hotel lounge is furnished and styled beautifully. Rooms are ok, beds comfortable and the heating is good. High tea was a lovely experience and bar food good. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to dine at Darley’s, maybe next time.
Response from Property: Hi Tracey, thank you for sharing your experience with us! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your time at our hotel and that you found the lounge, rooms, high tea, and bar food to your liking. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and experience Darley's.

Unfortunately this time I have given up even booking the place. I stayed at the place several years ago and had a very good experience. Recently, we called in for a breakfast at Lilianfels and then had a lunch at ECHOES next door and were disappointed with the food and the service. Nothing like what it use to be. Today I phoned the Lilianfels to book a room, and was enquiring some details about the rooms. The person who took my call and whose name I could not catch as the line was terrible and the person was speaking too fast, was so rude that it stunned me. He continued to talk over me, and when I asked to be heard, he told me that I am to listen to him, and continued talking over me. Then the line was cut off. This is the end of us wanting to stay at Lilianfels.
