Amazing view of range of Himalayan peaks (300 kms wide) from your hotel room, delicious Kumaon cuisine (ordered a-la carte), and more than anything, the hospitality of Kapoor family (Mr. Threesh Kapoor in particular). Why not 5-starts then? I think the rooms (bathroom in particular) need renovation, and the surroundings need cleanups. This is my message to the folks ***aging the day-to-day operations of the hotel. We stayed in family room (located on 3rd floor) which has the upper deck where a double bed is put up - good for kids but not adults. The disadvantage of family room is that the windows are only half the height - while the deluxe rooms (on lower floors) have full height windows.

Good part of the place is that the owner Mr. Kapoor was very kind and generous. However that does not negate the unkind experience of the staff. We reached the hotel at 3pm after a long tiring journey. The lunch was very mediocre- soups were severed in small bowls; hot n sour and ***chow soup being the exact same. Dal was uncooked, veg Jalfrezi was just big chunks of mixed vegetables. The buffet had community focused food choices and we were asked not to eat Jain salad. This is the worst hospitality wherein discrimination was very evident. The tea was bad; was watery. The very basic etiquette of not serving water on the table shows careless attitude. The rooms did not have bisleri bottles; don’t know if the water was even cleaned or was fresh in the old Milton jar. The coffee maker was dirty. All this feedback has been provided to the hotel ***ager.

The rooms of the hotel and the restaurant face the mighty Himalayas which is a treat to watch as you sip your coffee or tea. The approach to the hotel involves a very steep climb down but once you reach the restaurant it is worth it. Restaurant is spacious

Excellent in Kausani Location is not crowded and facing snow peaks. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Staff is polite, courteous and provide good service. Great good, with excellent local food options if asked for. Only potential negative is the slightly difficult approach to enter the hotel. Not at all difficult for a confident driver.

We visited with family including 2 kids in January. Rooms were beautiful with a view of snow covered mountain peaks. Very clean and maintained rooms. The ambience of hotel overall is also nice. The best selling point of this place was it's excellent food. All the veggies were grown in the nursery within hotel premises. There is table tennis, carrom and other indore games for kids. The staff was always ready to help and giving prompt service. The owner of this place stays within the hotel and often connects with the visitors and builds connection. Visit this place when you just want to relax and enjoy the nature's beauty. The approach road of this place is the only piece that needs to improve. The road is very steep with turns which made it difficult to get the car back up on the main road. We went through Ertiga here which was not strong enough for that steep slope. Otherwise the place is awesome and we will definitely visit here again.
