Fairfield Inn Kansas City Downtown/Union Hill

I liked the breakfast but no one refilled at all. When we checked out there was still no coffee.

Great buffet breakfast. Nearby KC Streetcar stop that runs for free to many attractions including Sea Life, City Market, the Plaza, UMKC. Room was clean. We had trouble with the TV but it was fixed promptly. Neighborhood is still getting renovated but seemed safe to walk to Streetcar stop and to a nearby church and restaurant.

We had an excellent time at Fairfield Inn. The hotel was in excellent condition, both room & common area. The coffee was hot and the food was hot. This was a great hotel for a last minute trip to KC. Affordable, supremely located, and very easy to find. We rode the train in to see the Big Boy 4014 steam locomotive. Thanks to Kansas City’s commitment to the renewal of a world class transportation system, being the Main Street Streetcar, we were able to travel from Union Station to our Hotel, 2 stops down at Union Hill, using only the fare-free Streetcar. Utilizing affordable, comfortable transportation options allowed us to enjoy the short day in KC with merchandise from the event, multiple incredible local meals, and a few drinks to end the evening. We will be back to explore the rest of the area very soon.

It's a fine standard hotel that's pretty dated but will apparently be renovated soon. Breakfast ends at 9am, which is a bit early to end it, but my actual problem was I thought the check-in told me it ends at 10am. I went down just after 9 to find it closed. Otherwise no issue - room was comfortable enough.

Currently being remodeled. Rooms are generously sized. Fitness center and breakfast are good. Used the stairs to get around, even from the 4th floor because you can exit outside from the second floor. Rooms are dark at night. Good lighting except for the bathroom sink area.

It is a very pleasant experience. When we checked in he was very nice. Didn't get his name but it was the evening of August 19. We were there because of the storm in Wyandotte County Kansas. He told me that he wouldn't charge me for parking and I thanked him. They moved us quickly to another room when the first rooms air conditioner was not working. When I checked out and went home I got a email alert where my card was charged $40 for parking. I was upset that he didn't honor his word.
