I've stayed here a couple of times over the years and the experience has been mixed. On this occasion, we were only here for one night since I was running the "Trolley Run" the next day with the requisite early start to pick up the shuttles from the Plaza to the start. The Marriott was therefore ideally placed to facilitate such an activity. So, on this occasion I really wanted a bed for the night and this was ably provided here, and it was very comfortable. On this visit we were checked in very efficiently, and the hotel seemed pretty empty which accounted for the M club being closed. I must confess to finding this irritating. It certainly pays to make it to the upper echelons of the Bonvoy scale and access to lounges is one of the major perks. It is a shame that they don't seem to be open all the time and over this weekend, the lounge was closed for the duration of our, admittedly very short, stay. Still, we were afforded breakfast and that was very well presented in the dining room where the serving staff were very friendly and personable. The room itself was spacious and quiet. As I mentioned, the hotel seemed quite empty so it was particularly peaceful in the room, even though there were thunderstorms raging most of the night. This suggests the soundproofing is of a good standard. Nothing spectacular in the room layout, formulaic the world over but that's what one expects in a chain hotel. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. I wonder about this level of hotel sometimes. It is clearly Marriott's mainstream, mid-range or upper mid-range brand. It does most things well but falls down on some of the details sometimes. In this stay, it would have been very nice for us to have a place to hang out in the evening, when the weather was bad to perhaps enjoy a snack or a glass of wine and whilst this was certainly possible in the bar area, it is a shame when there is a lounge for such things, but it is closed! I understand that this is primarily a business hotel so I guess they don't have full facilities available at the weekend, but still. However, it was very good value and I will stay here again, as I have in the past.
