I booked via an online travel website and arrived at 4 PM on April 17, 2024 to check-in. Upon arrival I was told that the hotel did not have enough rooms and that the manager (Jason Mabin) would be out shortly as they would be sending me to another hotel but the good news was that I wouldn't be charged anything for my one night stay and that The Marriott Country Club Plaza would cover the cost of my room at a nearby Embassy Suites. I was also told that I would get 10,000 Bonvoy points. The hotel I was sent to was really sub-par and worn and was not the quality of the hotel that I would have had if I stated at The Marriott Country Club Plaza as I had booked. Given I pre-paid for the room online, I did not get a credit for the room, so I paid for The Marriott Country Club Plaza (didn't get a refund as I was told I would) and was put in a subpar hotel. Jason Mabin gave me his card in case I had any issues and that next day I sent him an email that bounced back undeliverable. I then called the hotel and was given a different email address for him than was on his card via the franchisee. I sent an email there and have sent 3 follow-ups since then and never heard anything back. I was given the 10,000 Bonvoy points (worth about $50), but was never refunded the amount I paid to a third party travel website for The Marriott Country Club Plaza. I spent way more time on this than I should have had to and still haven't gotten a refund and cannot get a response. Jason Mabin was really friendly until they got rid of me, then non-responsive. Very unimpressive. I hope Marriott management and the Franchisee management read this.

Just getting to the hotel, there's lots of construction on the road right outside hotel, but it didn't have a big impact on our stay and wasn't noisy outside (at least not during the weekend). The lobby is really nice. The room was just okay...the bathroom door was closed when we got inside room, and when opening it the smell was like smelly gym socks. But after airing it out overnight it was fine the next day. The bed was comfy. The shower was nice. The sounds are easily heard between rooms and hallway. I maybe expected a little better from the room for the cost. Overall the hotel is nice but is showing its age a bit (drywall patches visible, water damage to plaster from leaks, etc.). Also, if you get an email saying parking is $17/night, it's not...it's $30. I don't know why they can't correct that email. Front desk were very helpful in providing us transportation options.

Check in was a bit awkward with staff member having to step away from check in desk to deal with other issues multiple times. However, another staff member later offered complimentary bottles of water which was very nice.

Very average concrete suburban Marriott. I'm giving poor review and warning because when I arrived, a little after 1pm for a three night stay, I politely asked if my room was ready and if I could check in. The place was absolutely empty. The agent pulled up my reservation, gave me that "your an inconvenience face" and said they had an available room for a $75 early arrival fee. On a $126/night rate. Are you kidding me? That is gouging. I could understand if it was a resort, or I was there at 9am, but we are talking an obviously empty suburban location after 1pm. I wasn't on a cheap 3rd party site booking either. I booked through the Marriott app. I don't have meaningful points status. I told the front desk it was a ripp off and they acted like they were doing me a huge favor to return for a no charge check in at 2pm. I should have sat in the lobby and stared at them but I just went out for awhile. That is how they want to welcome me, by ripping me off? I come back at 220pm, check in, and AFTER I check in they tell me the hotel won't have water from 8am to 4pm the next day. So no shower after my workout and they let me know I got one flush for 8 hours. How about $75 off for that? Now the water thing happens, but knowing this- why not some grace at check in? Makes me think Marriott is probably like frontier and giving clerks bonuses for collecting fees? Others have noted this issue and they continue to do it without apology. Not noted anywhere on their site!!! I posted google review and got what I believe to be an AI generated response. That is weak. Other issues- Super slow 'free' wifi to try and get you to pay to upgrade. No outdoor space so the smokers all light up in arrival area making it a smoky mess. Gym had lots of broken equipment and you had to find and carry weight pin from machine to machine. Would not recommend this hotel, there are many other choices in the Plaza.

So… Where to begin. I guess by saying you get what you pay for. Next tome i’ll fork out a few more bucks and stay at a better hotel. The “restaurant”… not such a thing. This is a meeting room conditioned with some chairs and the “breakfast” is what you will get at a courtyard or such. Plus at 11:20 AM on a Saturday morning we were finishing our coffee and asked to please leave so they could clean up the place… really? The room. We had a corner junior suite. The sofa bed mattress was disgusting. There were no bedsheets for it int eh room. We called and they delivered while we were out. Just dumped them on the table, did not have the courtesy to make the sofa bed. The lid where you sit on the tolete had multiple cigaret burns. Parking garage is small, really just one car can go up or down at the same time. I get I am not paying JW prices, but come on Marriott, I have seen you do way better then this!
