While planning the trip to Izu, we wanted to be close to the ocean and enjoy some excellent seafood (sashimi), and we were not disappointed with the stay at Inatori Tokai Hotel Yuen. The hotel is literally just next to the ocean and since we booked a room with private onsen, it was really a treat soaking in hot onsen water, admiring the view and enjoying the sound of the ocean. Though our first impression of the hotel was that it is a bit dated, the rooms have obviously been newly renovated with a nice modern look. We are a group of four so we booked a Western/Japanese room with two beds and a tatami room. It is a good size for the 4 of us. Dinner was excellent with lots of fresh sashimi; since we chose a menu with lobster and abalone, we would have expected that the portion of the regular sashimi would be reduced, yet this was not the case. Hence, one suggestion is that the portion of sashimi could be adjusted for it was way too much for four people. I like the website of the hotel, which allows me to check all the details including choice of room before making the booking. As it was not a budget stay, it is important for us to make decision based on the best information.

I relaxed in a room where you can enjoy the ocean view. All rooms have ocean view. It was an inn where Izu Oshima could be seen in front of me. It was inconvenient that there was no towel hanger in the room (Wi-Fi was easily connected). The open-air bath was good in the large communal bath. Even if you take a bath, you can see the sea. The hot spring water smelled a little sulfur from the book. It is a hot spring of the private source. The cold water after the bath was lukewarm. I think it's a good idea to bring mineral water and put it in the refrigerator. The meal was a room meal. Except for pre-prepared and appetizers, they will bring you freshly prepared. Sake is reasonably priced at 300cc 750 yen for local sake in Izu. The contents of both dinner and breakfast were good, and we were able to relax at our own pace in the room. There are few inns for breakfast and room meals. By the way, Mr. Nakai in the room was not very pleasant for the first senior and the next person. I felt cold. However, Mr. Nakai, a non-Japanese who took care of me for the meal, felt very comfortable and relaxed. It was really good for this person at breakfast. I think the inn will decide how to feel about the inn by Nakai's response.

There is only a western room with a complete non-smoking, and most of the ordinary Japanese rooms are smoked in the next room or the person who smokes in the previous stay. The tatami mats in the room smelled like cigarettes and hurt my throat, and the corridor was very smelly every time I went to the meal and the hot spring, so I want the Japanese room to clearly divide the non-smoking floor and the smoking floor. I had a lot of people waiting for the elevator to say that it smelled like cigarettes. If you can't do it all on the floor, you can't smoke right half and smoke left half and smoke (because you can't stay if you are a child or an elderly person, you can't stay in a Japanese room...) I used it to dive with three companions. I didn't have a meal, so I can't evaluate it there, but I think it is quite convenient to use it in a group of multiple people because there is a set of cooking equipment and a large refrigerator in the room. It is a big facility, but all the spaces are well air-conditioned and no negative points were found.

Love the view of the hotel, room is the typical Japanese style tatami and I love it so much. Traveller can enjoy the coffee and microwave which are located in the lobby.

You can take a bus to Izu-Kogen Station. There is a hotel shuttle bus in the parking lot. There are no special signs. Pay attention to the hotel's name printed on the front of the bus (you need to look carefully). The driver will check your name carefully before getting on the bus. Although the distance is one kilometer, it is all on hills. Fortunately, we have a car. The hotel room is large and the environment is beautiful. Outside the window is the sea. Dinner in the hotel needs to be booked in advance, and it was too late to make a reservation when we arrived. Dinner is purely Japanese style. The hotel can provide you with the names and phone numbers of nearby hotels. Even the prices in surrounding restaurants are relatively high. This private hot spring has a 24-hour continuous cycle and maintains a constant temperature of 41 degrees. In addition, the hotel also provided socks for wearing clogs. I tried them on but I still wasn't used to them. There are two places on the first floor of the hotel that provide unlimited free drinks, cookies, chocolates, etc. Free dandan noodles in the third floor restaurant. Breakfast is good and cheap.

The appearance of the room is very inconspicuous, but the inside of the room is simply stunning! Be sure to choose a room with a balcony. The view is super nice and I couldn’t be more impressed. The only drawback is that it is far from the station. Although there is a free shuttle bus, the latest one ends at 4:30. The hotel does not provide meals and can only be eaten outside, so I take a taxi back every day. However, being able to stay in a room like this during the fireworks season, the price is still cheap, and you can also soak in the hot springs, it is really a great value! In addition, the small restaurant in Izu-Kogen Station cooks delicious food, and the coffee and breakfast shop only opens at 10 o'clock, which is also delicious, so it can perfectly solve the problem of no food in the hotel.

The property has amazing ocean views high on an outcropping, but none of the rooms with an ocean view have a balcony, except the very edge of the east wing. Wonderful gardens with a path lading down to a small beach that isn't too noteworthy. The rooms have been updated since the construction and are pretty good overall. The pool was closed in June, which was pretty disappointing, especially as the beach is below par. The onsen facilities met expectation. The beds are firm, which I loved, but not everyone likes a firm mattress. The hotel operates a bus service to pick up guests from the train station twice an hour from 9-5pm. If you are doing dinner out in the town or drinks in the evening, you have to grab a taxi back as the walk is a bit of a hike. The hotel staff are very friendly and kind, the concierge knows the area and has great recommendation for activities...wonderful and friendly people. The hotel restaurant serves a nice mostly Japanese breakfast (as expected) with local delicacies, wide range of teas, coffee and juice as well as a great selection of breads and fresh fruit. The hotel restaurant for dinner is average. Our group ordered a range of items off the menu and no one was terribly impressed. The lone stand out was the French Onion soup, packed with flavor, though a bit light on the cheese. Would stay here again if the price was right, was able to get rooms at a discount on this stay as it was rainy season.

I didn't really know what was there, so I got everything for the time being (lol) The pool is timed. Put in for an hour and a half. The water was quite cold, so I was grateful to receive a bath towel. I went in the evening and felt a little cold. I didn't swim there, but it's about 25 meters long. The scenery is just wonderful. Sunset, sea, sunset... I could stand by the pool all the time. I returned with the sunset, but the night pool was beautiful at night. It was lit up. You can see the pool from the room. Dinner is a buffet. You can choose from 6:00 to 7:30 or 7:30 to 9:00. It was delicious as usual, and I was satisfied with the number of items. It was full of seafood such as sashimi, grilled shrimp, grilled turban shell in Burgundy, and sushi. I don't know how many pieces of sashimi I ate (laughs) Of course, there are also meat dishes such as roast beef and rafute. Sweets were also substantial, and I could eat as much as I could, such as cakes and brulee. I felt that the T-bag type herbal tea was rare. I drank wild berries and African nectar. I prefer the latter. As for fruit, the melon was sweet and the best. It would have been nice to have breakfast as well. I enjoyed it for an hour and a half, but the guests with children returned to their rooms. I think there were meals that children could eat, such as gratin, shrimp chili, and seafood curry, but it's strange. It was surprising that we were the only ones who stayed until the closing time. Breakfast is also a buffet. Same as the day before, I'm satisfied. Of particular note are the mushroom omelet rice and orange French toast. It is said to be a specialty of Izu. I replaced it several times. I ate a lot of sweets for breakfast as well. The yam compote is impressive. I used the open-air bath twice, one at night and one in the morning. A bathing fee of 150 yen will be charged at check-out, so the more you enter, the more you will get. With an ocean view, I felt like I was soaking in the sea. Feels like an infinity pool. Finally, about transportation. It is safer not to walk from the station. There are many slopes and you will be tired. I am very grateful for the free pick-up service, but I wish it was on time. Is there only one car? We booked the transfer from the train station to the hotel in advance. However, he didn't come to the station when the time came, and when I called him, he was told that he was on his way. Hotel → station transfer told the front desk the departure time on the night of the first day. However, when it was time to leave, the car was nowhere to be found, and the driver would be there in five minutes. It was time for the train, so I was quite confused. The driver was a pro, so I'm glad I made it in time. I was blessed with friends who accompanied me, and it was a fun trip. The hotel was also good overall.
