The Boathouse

We stayed in one of the Wharf rooms. Pros of our stay: Very happy with being able to be within walking distance of so many quaint little shops. Staff was very friendly. Restaurant was excellent. Cons: Noted a funky musty smell when we first entered the building. Room was small and view overlooked the parking lot. There seemed to be a LOT of construction and traffic noises. Chairs in the room were hard and not comfortable at all. Shower had a very weak "light rain shower" feel to it....takes an awful long time to rinse off (esp. shampoo). The back door into the building doesn't shut tight unless you physically pulled it shut. Noted a "housekeeping cart" outside our room early as we were leaving for breakfast on day two. We assumed that our room would be done by the time we returned, it was not. The same cart was still there in afternoon...room was still untouched. Later on in the afternoon we, again, saw the same cart. This time, a woman was there who asked if we would like the room cleaned (by now we had returned so we could relax before an early dinner). At that point, we just asked for clean towels and that was it. In summary, I would definitely eat at the restaurant again but would not stay overnight. I, too, was taken aback by being charged a "resort fee". Perhaps there is more to do in the summer months that they offer as "resort" amenities, but definitely not at this time of year. This place is NOT a resort, in my opinion.

Great Time spent over two nights stay. Comfy Room with a view of the downtown village at Dock Square. The Walking distance to Downtown shopping is less than two Minutes. Very Clean. Nice Shower. Huge Bed. Nice People. We will be back. Joe and Linda

One of the best hotels in the area.

30 year wedding anniversary and it couldn't have been better. Room was top notch and staff was excellent. The restaurant must be good as we didn't have a reservation and it was so busy we ate in another local place. Won't let that happen again. Our second time there and we will be back.

Valet greeted us and moved a car for us to park for our two night stay. Romeo made sure to let us know when he would be there to check us in. Elevator was a plus with luggage and the restaurant was able to accommodate large parties for guests, even though they were super busy for the Thanksgiving, Black Friday weekend. Even a personal greeting, welcome home, after shopping at the many wonderful shops. Continental breakfast was a plus.

Loved the hotel, and the rooms were nice, and so was the restaurant. The stay went downhill on Saturday night when they celebrated ‘paint the town red’. The music in restaurant was so loud that our room was vibrating. Sadly, the hotel lost points for this. Not sure why music had to be so loud??!! Probably won’t return.

The website said they had an elevator. I had 2 rooms and we got put in the VERY old building. My sisters could not carry their suitcases up the two flights of very steep stairs. The hotel did not smell clean. Booking process was very misleading. WE DID NOT STAY THE NIGHT in your hotel. I drove in to Portland and stayed somewhere else.

Forget the resto terrace...never seen such a noisy place in 50 yrs of travelling around the globe
