Azul del Mar

Boathouse room needs a dehumidifier and air purifier. Very small with a very musty smell in room. No ventilation, room only has a door... No windows. Otherwise, room was very clean and well supplied with everything you would need... microwave, refrigerator with freezer, even a dishwasher.

Bed was horrible, way too soft. Dipped down! No door for toilet. Room was very tight. Nothing to do around the area.

We ended up here after a horrible Airbnb experience left us without a place to stay for the evening and it is by far one of the nicest boutique hotels we have ever stayed in absolutely a five-star spot that I would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing and classy place in Key Largo. Room was spacious with a wonderful view. Very low keyed and relaxing a**osphere. Stayed three nights - wish I had spent more time there.

Azul Del Mar is a nice piece of property to spend a few days. Quiet and relaxing with a small dock to enjoy the sunset. The dive resort has a pool that guests can use. I would give 5 stars if there was someone at the front desk.

It was our first time staying at Azul, we normally stay next door at Amoray but they were sold out. We didn’t know they owned this resort until they recommend it. Upon entering the resort, you feel the quaint, tropical island vibes. There are hammocks to use and some chairs and tables for outdoor seating. It is a completely different feel than Amoray, however the room was just as clean, the staff came over when we needed them and housekeeping serviced our room daily. The bed was comfortable and the linens and towels were so soft. There is a local iguana “Fred” who makes an appearance here and there amongst a dozen other iguanas roaming the lawn area. All in all, this was a fantastic find, and we’re glad we now have a second option when it comes to Key Largo.

The boathouse used to be used as a store for the lifejackets and paddles, it has no windows, the bathroom door is an old closet mirrored door, when we expressed our disappoin**ent, the receptionist said that she had spent a week in it and it "wasnt too bad but to be honest I wasnt in the room much" Probably the least truthful description of a property I have ever stayed in.

Alright so, this place was right on the cusp of 5 stars. For the price point, it exceeded what I think it should be. So that’s good. I liked everything, it was quiet, set back, calm. The parking lot is away from the building and that creates a real serene sort of a**osphere. Except one a-hole decided to park his cheap Mercedes right in the rocks right next to the sidewalk, which is obviously a no parking area. Check in and out were easy. The WiFi works well. The bed and pillows were good. Our room was aquamarina and it has a good view but the room, with the view, is kinda just forgotten about. There was a loveseat and that’s it. It’s like that’s the best part of the whole place, give the area some love lol. Drawbacks, really the only drawbacks are things that can be easily fixed. If they have someone clean the windows more often on the outside, update some of the bathrooms and doors/windows. Basic maintenance like keeping the outside roof clean (that might be expensive tho). Back to good stuff, The beach area was quaint and nice. You can swim if you want. The sunset on the dock is beautiful. Only one complaint about that area is it isn’t lighted after dark so when the sun goes down the area is kinda useless. I wish they had a gate to the property. All in all, worth the money and we had a great time.

Although we only stayed one night, this hidden gem was fantastic! The staff let us enjoy the amenities on site while the room was being cleaned. The ambiance is very peaceful and quiet, we rarely saw other guests. We laid on out the beach chairs ALL DAY and were so upset to leave the next day. We are coming back to the Keys next year and we will make sure to stay here again but longer!
