It was a lovely room very big. You must put the tag on the door handle if you want your room cleaned daily. I wasn’t aware of that information so my room wasn’t cleaned.

I’d never stay here again. My husband and I are on a week vacation and stayed at many hotels and this was the most expensive and the worst. The front desk person was so rude. She did not crack a smile and the only words she spoke, were rushed directions about how the restaurant closing at 8:30 and what time breakfast was. I don’t even know when that is because of her ignorant and mumbled speech. The room was horrible and looked out at a big blank concrete wall. The decor was terrible, less than basic.. There were no bedside outlets, no fridge, a Murphy looking bed on small stilts, an outdated phone that didn’t work, no thermostat, (it was hot and stuffy!) no lotion, 2 small facecloths AND the tv’s volume was LOCKED!!( and I happen to have a hearing issue!! Although my husband couldn’t hear it either! ) We also had to park in the back at the dumpsters because there was a wedding and conference. The bar was so loud because of the conference and the restaurant closed at way too early. I would never recommend staying here, nor would I ever stay here again for free—never mind for €240! Zero review.

I stayed in Hotel Kilkenny at the end of March 2024, to attend a friends wedding. Top marks for the attention to detail from the hotel's event planners, from personalised signs in the lift for guests to direct them to the correct floors for the function, to great food and professional service at the dinner. I had requested a quiet room away from busy areas and not over the bars or function rooms, and this was provided, and the room was warm and clean. I had a much needed sleep after the wedding because I needed to travel back to Dublin to go.to work the following night. I think the barman who served us in the function room was Ian, and his colleagues whose names I can't recall, deserve to be praised for their professional and patient service on the night. I work in Hospitality so I can recognise good service delivered to inebriated and annoying patrons like me, at such a late hour after a long and busy day on their feet, which is to be commended. Thanks for everything.

Stayed for one night recently with 2 children. We were on the fourth floor. The hotel is clean, very spacious family room, lovely staff from reception to bar to leisure centre. We ate in the bar for dinner and it was really nice, the waitress was efficient and polite, the kids really enjoyed their meal, bar is spacious. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment. The pool is great with a smaller one for children, nice hot showers. Location wise, only 5 or so minutes drive to town centre but definitely within walking distance. Overall lovely one night stay!

Very disappointing stay at Hotel Kilkenny. We had booked only a week in advance as we had been given a last minute opportunity to get away for the night from looking after an elderly family member. The rooms on line looked really nice however the room we stayed in was a huge let down, We were on the third floor , the decor was tired and outdated , the bed clothes stank of bleach and the bathroom, while clean was like something you would find in an apartment in Spain - shower over a bath and a shower curtain. I smiled at the sticker on the toiletries that said please do not remove !! You would t take them if you got them for nothing !!! The bar was quiet for a bank holiday weekend a few families but very little atmosphere so we went into town. Cooked breakfast selection was poor the following morning and was obviously pre cooked. I mentioned our disappointment at the front desk the following morning and we were told that floor was due for an upgrade Upgrade well overdue- we left a better room and bathroom at home - when you pay 250 euro for a hotel stay you expect a lot better than we got..

I have stayed at the hotel twice before but It has been about 4 years since my last stay. I stayed here recently and I was very surprised at how old and worn down the room was. I booked a standard room and it felt as if it was not a 4 star hotel but a budget guest house.. everywhere i looked there was scuffs and stains. Everything felt old. There is also no fridge in the room and no plug sockets beside the bed [That I could find] to charge your phone which would be nice but not the end of the world The hotel itself is gorgeous, lobby is very modern and clean and all the staff are excellent. The leisure centre is very good and again the staff there are brilliant! The restaurant is great and the staff also great. Cannot fault the staff at the hotel whatsoever. I can see from the website they now have 'PLUS' rooms which I assume must be newly decorated rooms so hopefully they will also upgrade the standard rooms as the room really brought down the standard of the hotel.

We stayed here for a few nights over the Easter break and for two young teens and two grown ups, it was perfect. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the pool was clean with a nice temperature and lovely hot showers. Food was good every time and the staff were friendly and attentive. The hotel is very close to the town, just a five minute walk and kilkenny is full of things to see and do. The castle, the tour train, the medieval mile and the Butler gallery, all well worth looking into. Highly recommend the hotel and the city.

We had the most fabulous family break at the hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful and immaculately clean, spacious and warm. The food was excellent and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. We highly recommend this hotel and we'll definitely be back.
