This concerns the restaurant not the hotel. The staff were lovely and I sat outside so the view was really good too. However my food was very disappointing. I ordered a starter - “Tiger Prawn croquettes” which were €12. Two came on a plate and they were tasty but… literally 98% potato. There was a minuscule amount of prawn in them and just tasted entirely of potato. I ate them and then commented to the waitress who said she would pass on the message to the chef but I heard nothing more. So, tasty potato croquettes, but for €12? The phrase “Rip off Ireland” comes to mind.

Great location right in the middle of Kilkenny, you can walk to everything lovely riverside bar.Staff very helpful and informed. The room we had had a good view of the river and castle. It was clean and comfortable but in need of decoration. The bath room while having everything needs updated, walk in shower would be better than standing in the bath!. Breakfast was very good with good service and plenty of staff on hand. The bar was very well laid out but at times could be confusing, an example, place an order at the bar and pay for it then while i wait on my beer the staff serving me goes away to do something else I ask another staff member for my beer and he ask me to pay for it again as he did do the origional transaction this happened twice howerver this was sorted quickly. Little minor issues but worth highlighting.

The view is priceless. The staff act as of they love their job, and that translates into a warmer experience where the client feels more at home (this may just be Irish people in general, we've been all over the world they are the sweetest). We had our wedding ceremony right at the hotel. Wouldn't change a thing about this place.

Myself and my family stayed here for my mother’s 50th. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. We had beautiful rooms with a great view of the castle. We ate dinner in the restaurant. The food was nice and the service was very efficient and professional- Henry was serving us. They brought out a happy birthday dessert for my mother which was a nice touch. Overall would definitely stay again!

We had to move rooms at 11.30pm on our 1st night as the shower was scalding and couldn't he repaired . We ended up in a smaller room. We didn't feel children were made feel welcome. We had a teenager and an 11 year old with us and the manager told us we had to leave the bar at 10pm.,despite this being our 2nd night there and staying the previous night until 11pm(and not being asked to move out) .Food very overpriced and limited in choice . The bar was freezing, we asked for the air conditioning to be turned off. Drink was very overpriced at least €2 added on to some drinks. We had to clear our own table and order drinks at the bar, despite it not being busy . There was no atmosphere in the bar for a bank holiday. No music or band playing. The loyalty system they have is a joke also. Wouldn't recommend this hotel for families at all.

A very enjoyable two night stay at the end of March. The hotel is in a fantastic location for exploring Kilkenny city and the surrounding area. Very relaxing with great views of the River and Castle. A great selection for breakfast. Room was clean and comfortable. Good value for money.

Average standard/quality/experience. We booked last minute and got a great deal with breakfast included as we were going down to Kilkenny to sight see/explore. Check in was prompt and car parking easy accessible. You get what you pay for kind of deal. The rooms are unloved and lacking. Peeling worktops/ cracked tiles/ stained dusty lampshades/broken windows, general wear and tear so don’t expect more than that. The one major flaw within the rooms was the pillows , they were like sandbags, I have never seen worse! A few very poor nights sleep, it was impossible to get comfortable. Definitely not recommended if you have neck/back problems. The general ambience in the hotel again, lacking. The hotel constantly smelt of food/fryers which crept up to the rooms. No music in the front foyer nor the bar/restaurant when we visited one evening-it was silent. Breakfast was included within the deal but the selection is minimal and standard average/poor. Hot food all overdone, eggs scrambled untill they couldn’t scramble anymore and everything was just covered in oil. The mini pastries were all bought in. When given tea/coffee both mornings, the pots were dirty from previous users, covered in butter/hairs/fingerprints. Like mentioned, you get what you pay for. We didn’t spend much time in the hotel but just some faults that did affect the standard of our stay. If you’re looking somewhere handy to sleep then it is ideal.

Stayed here for two nights mid week in the Bridge house section and it was great value for money and a very central location. The parking was free and staff very friendly. Over all great hotel but a couple of problems one was the windows would not open to let fresh air in and the safe would not work (forgot to say this to reception on check out) and the breakfast was only ok. We will return.

Lovely 4 star hotel in the centre of Kilkenny but no hot water. Advised reception spoke to management who advised that we needed to leave the tap running for at least six minutes. A joke for €220 bed and breakfast for a Friday night. Handled very badly by management @Neville Group Hotels
