Hotel is nice with an accompanying restaurant and bar. The room itself was clean and comfortable but the walls were a bit thin and my neighbors were watching television till after 2 am. Overall a good experience.

Location very convenient: stone’s throw from the train station and right in the town centre near the castle and some really nice bars. Their bar also serves good food and is a
decent spot for a late night drink. Be aware however, that the front door shuts at 10 and you can only gain access from the buzzer at the adjacent bar and they are quite strict on guest access. If you are a couple make sure to select for 2 when making the booking.
Nevertheless the breakfast is extensive, and the rooms comfortable so thumbs up overall.

Kilford Arms is in a prime location in Kilkenny city. Train station is just a 5 minute walk. Great atmosphere in this hotel & staff are extremely friendly. Rooms are well maintained & they go above & beyond to make your stay very pleasant. See you all soon

We didn’t stay at the hotel but ate lunch in the bar.The staff were very welcoming. We enjoyed a really good guiness followed by a delicious lunch. Fresh smoked salmon with large prawns.salad, soda bread. Very generous portions and the chicken wings were also very good.

We just went for a drink and dinner. We took fish & chips and the large mixed grill. Fish & chip was ok, the mixed grill needed to check the meaning of the word 'large' since it was more like a basic breakfast. I also had to pay the chips as a side plate. Bar was ok and service average. Price was ok, apart from paying additional for the chips. There are far better pub dining options in Kilkenney

Despite the outward appearance, we found this hotel to be more similar to North American chain hotels than the previous pub/guestroom style hotels we had stayed at in Ireland. Also, I had reserved a one-bed room for The Wife and I, but we ended up getting a family-style room with more beds than I though could fit in a hotel room. All in all, we spent little time in the hotel room, which was looking a bit worn, but it was otherwise functional. I did like the free on-site parking lot (tucked behind the hotel down a narrow alley), the location was central, and the adjoining bar/restaurant that was built within an old church. These last three factors boosted the hotel's rating from "average" to "very good."
