I had favorable winds on today’s cycling trip from Sata Misaki to the Okura in Kanoya, so I wheeled in more than an hour ahead of check- in time. The room has a double bed with a very nice damask duvet, a good- sized work desk and a coffee table with two chairs that strangely look like they came from an Addams Family production set. No real view from this room; rooms on 4F and higher would have a nice view of the surrounding city and hills. The bedding was comfortable and the room was very quiet, so I slept well. Breakfast was good, the breakfast room was open and spacious. As is common in Japanses hotels like this, there was a staff lady keeping the breakfast place spotlessly clean at all times. The Onsen was fantastic - small, but nice. The lobby has a number of great models of aeroplanes and ships, owing no doubt to the proximity of the large Defense Force base nearby. I would certainly look here first when booking another visit to Kanoya.
