Koh Sdach Resort

I really want to put a warning on this establishment for future travelers. We spent 3 nights there with a friend in January, we were confident given the positive comments. The hotel is for Cambodians, foreigners are not considered in any way. Already the staff does not speak (or very little) English, and absolutely no French despite what they have written. We did not have a boat to go to the island (we found it ourselves), no reception, no hello during our stay. We were told, no excursion possible (although the Cambodians had them). Party with ultra loud music on the 2 beaches until one in the morning, impossible to be on the terrace because it is constantly being bombarded. They refused to serve us food because the Cambodian tourists had not finished eating!! After insisting we finally had the right to plain steamed rice. We were told that there was no boat to take us back to the mainland and that they had no contact details to give us either. However, a boat from the hotel made many return trips for Cambodian tourists and the hotels on the island normally have the number of fishermen who can make the trip too. Thanks to the hotel across the street for welcoming us for meals and booking the boat to leave. In the city itself we thought we would find diving and snorkeling centers but everything was closed!! We found ourselves on this island where no one spoke English in a hotel that didn't accommodate us. Besides, our room was never cleaned in 3 days. We had to get some water and some pq from a nearby room. Surrealist! Of course also ant problem, very long water and electricity outage, but that's not the hotel's fault. We were told that we were unlucky because the 3 hotel managers were absent and that therefore explained why the staff was not making an effort... ok, but still! The location and the rooms are really fabulous, Cambodian tourists are very well received and that's good. But I do not recommend this hotel to foreign tourists (unless perhaps they speak Khmer). Or at least go there knowingly ;).
