Relais du Kirindy

This hotel is in a great location for visits to the Kirindy park. The pool and restaurant were great. It is very close to the Sacred Baobab tree in the nearby village.

Spent one night here. Restaurant and reception staff were nice. Cabins looked cute but we slept poorly due to no air flow inside our hot and humid night room. Had to use the mosquito net even though we sprayed the room hours earlier. Low wattage light bulbs. Very dark inside. This place gets 2 stars because it has 4 walls and q private bathroom.

Convenient location to the Kirindy Forest. Nice pool for the afternoon. Great hot shower! Would have liked an à la carte breakfast instead of the buffet since I just wanted a little something in the morning.

We were booked for 3 nights but due to the poor state of this once choice location we only stayed for two. We had no water or scheduled electricity in our room, so no shower, a broken toilet seat and toilet that flushed only once or twice in the entire time. This was a thoroughly disappointing experience in Madagascar compared to the many other hotels. In my opinion, this place needs some serious investment particularly with the amount of guests coming to see Kirindy Forest. It is very sad to see how little the owners seem to care about the experience of their guests, but clearly very happy to take their money! The 2 stars are ONLY for the staff who are all lovely, & the close proximity to Kirindy Forest.

The place is nice. The service is OK. Food is nothing special and choice is very limited. Is close to Kirindy. Roads could use some work. Upon leaving the manager presented a bill which neglected to deduct the mandatory deposit and had added food/drinks we did not have.

Stayed one night. I had seen multiple negative reviews, and indeed the place deserves them. It's not the expected limitations due to the remote location, but the lack of any effort to make the place slightly more comfortable. I arrived in mid-afternoon and was hoping to recharge my camera and phone before going on the evening game walk. Instead, I found out the electricity would not be turned on until 18:00. This is way too late, because the sun sets before then and the room was pitch dark. There was no flashlight or battery operated lamp in the room. When I asked, I was told that guests need to use their own phones. This is really petty and disrespectful, considering the limited opportunities to recharge electronics. The hours electricity is available are not posted, and the staff is not forthcoming. Even after I inquired, they failed to disclose that in the morning it is turned on only between 05:00 and 07:00. At 07:00 I was still packing my stuff when the room plunged into darkness, and I had to waste precious phone charge to gather my things. Rooms are huts, which are very basic and gloomy. Even with the lights on, the room and bathroom are very dimly lit, and not all lights work. The room had a fan, which obviously worked only when the electricity was on. Cleanliness was questionable. Reasonably comfortable beds, but the (quite dirty) mosquito nets didn’t match the openings. Very low water pressure and barely lukewarm water. No wifi in the room (and no phone reception). I requested a breakfast box for 07:00, but at 07:15 it wasn't ready yet.
