I stayed at Amakhala Safari Lodge while I was volunteering on Amakhala Game Reserve. Everything was fantastic. We had great, friendly service, always with a big beaming smile from all the staff. Unati in particular was so friendly and helpful, always smiling and laughing. The food was great - we had a fruit platter and selection of cakes, with a welcome drink on arrival, a 3-course dinner in the evening and a great hot and continental breakfast too. The lodge is beautiful, totally immersed in nature. There is a friendly nyala who often eats from the trees and bushes around lodges, as well as giraffes that often visit the valley in front of the lodges and restaurant. The rooms are beautiful and very well equipped with large, deep bath tubs, a private verandah with plunge pool (not heated, so didn't use as it was freezing cold). Overall a great stay! Really loved my time there.

Really well organised safari experience. Arrived on Sunday afternoon and had out first experience , followed by 2 more on Monday and another on Tuesday morning. Jessie was our guide. Great fellow. Cheerful and positive. We say cheetahs, giraffes, zebra on day 1 followed by close ups of lions and rhinos on day 2. The tents were impressive, Spectacular views. Food good. Company great. Loved the experience.

The Safari Lodge is very clean, authentic and the excellent staff ensure an incomparable experience for the whole family. Special mention should be made of Bulelani, who enriched our stay with his cheerful and courteous manner.

Brilliant 3 night stay Welcoming and friendly staff, beautiful position , clean and spacious accommodation, and very knowledgeable safari guide ( an expert on animal Poo!) who led us across the reserve to see the big 5 . Keep an eye on your breakfast if the monkeys are playing close by.

Wow what a great place. You are made very welcome by all the staff The bungalows are spread out so there is no noise, the views are great across the landscape Rooms are big and very well equipped but no wardrobe so if you are there for more than a couple of days you don’t unpack Very clean and linen is pristine. Outside shower - very novel! Guys in the bar and restaurant full of fun and so friendly Game drives are amazing, you get one in the morning (7am) back for breakfast, then lunch then the second drive at 3pm The guide we had for the drives was very knowledgeqble and was passionate about the animals and their safety. We saw so many animals and learnt their history One of the drives included a trip to ADDO Elephant park OMG wall to wall elephants!! Only downside was we had one of the furthest away bungalows so if you book ask for one near to the dining.reception area

The Amakhala Lodge leaves nothing to be desired, very friendly and committed team in all areas. We can only recommend this lodge. We were particularly impressed by the variety of animals on 10,000 hectares

Couldn’t fault and we are fussy!!! Room lovely and comfortable food of a good standard. On safari nature at its best absolutely beautiful and our guide Martin was a genius on all things outside. 2 days is enough that normally gives you 3 drives. Amazing seeing animals outside of a zoo! Thanks for all your advice and information. Brilliant!!!!
