Hermes Hotel

Booked for seven nights through an agency (from 6 to 13/9/2023). We arrived at 10pm and the receptionist immediately behaved very rudely. We had booked (at the beginning of July...) a triple room (we have a 7 year old girl), but it was not available. He gave us a double room saying that since the child was 7 years old we could also sleep in a double bed. After several complaints, he put us in a service room (triple...) which was dilapidated (leaks, broken fridge, various leaks in the bathroom). Next morning same thing with another receptionist. We managed to have "our" room on the 4th day (out of 7...). The only positive note: a lady at the reception seen for two mornings: helpful and polite. Acceptable breakfast. Bad wifi. Comfort and services in general: 2 stars. First experience in Crete. Stunning island, hotel to forget. We will return to Crete, definitely never to the Hermes.

Excellent hotel with strategic location. The staff is welcoming and very kind, ready to give you tips on what to see, where to eat, and if necessary, to book some services for you. In front of the hotel there is the beach and the town center is a few minutes' walk away. A 15-20 minute drive takes you to Falasarna and about an hour to Elafonissi. The breakfast buffet is truly excellent, offering both the classic sweet and savory selection and some typical dishes. The cleanliness of the rooms is very good and they are redone every day. Having stayed in mid-September, we always found a place in the hotel car park. We had a great time

Let me start by saying that we had booked a triple room but upon arrival the third bed had not been made up and only after two days they did it!! The hotel is really poorly maintained, especially the outdoor spaces and the pool area, with old deckchairs and umbrellas (2 in total), unkept lawn, children's pool reduced to a pond. The rooms are not perfectly maintained but they are comfortable and are cleaned randomly, but if you ask at the reception, the cleaning is carried out. The staff is not as present as it should be and sometimes unprofessional: upon arrival, in addition to not having prepared the third bed, they made us wait to check in because the guy at the reception was busy arguing on the phone about a fault in the hotel and instead at check out, they invited us to go out before the scheduled time because they always had to fix a fault (they wanted us to go out at 8 instead of midday, but we insisted and went out by 10). The breakfast is normal, quite varied but here too, more could be done. Basically, they could really improve a lot and with a little effort: more care of the pool area, more staff (it is clear that they are undersized) and staff who are sometimes not very present. Very cheap for sure but I wouldn't go back.

Unsanitary room, nothing to do with the photos at the start, very noisy, no maintenance, the small dirty swimming pool is a horror, only the staff was correct to flee…..I do not recommend the hotel at all. pool bar a horror, never no one for service, no wifi in the rooms.

We returned for the second time this year too to this hotel the external structure is still beautiful but the rooms are let go the closing of the entrance door of the room faulty in the bathroom the iron was not raised the clothesline on the balcony broken the 'we reported several times they never showed up in a hotel in the wardrobe there should be an extra pillow for the blankets there were no arrogant and unhelpful staff the only good thing was the breakfast we will not go back again

Disappointed expectations for a well located hotel that could certainly be managed better. PROS Interesting location Fairly spacious rooms and decent bathrooms Ample parking. CONS Confusing staff Lack of staff, the same girl was at the reception and had to manage the breakfasts. There were eight of us friends in four rooms, the cleaning was done randomly, one never saw the maid, the others at random... The towels should be changed every three days, we stayed for four days always with the same ones. Very sad swimming pool, without a shaded area and the presence of a bar, in fact there are two brand new but closed bars... Very low price/quality ratio, also because the hotel didn't cost cheap...
