The hotel seems to have seen better days and is being kept alive. The staff are friendly and helpful in ironing out problems, but when you're standing in the room after midnight and can't close the curtains because gravity is pulling them down from the vaults and the water suddenly stops flowing when you shower because the faucet is so old, it's only of little help. Apart from towels and two bottles of soap and body lotion attached to the wall, you unfortunately don't find anything that would be usual in a 4-star hotel (not even anything for showering). On the other hand, breakfast: a room with an almost panoramic view, by 9 a.m. a lot of things were already sold out, but what was there was of good quality, crispy rolls, French cheeses, a wide selection of teas. You can get to the city center in 10-15 minutes on foot, just go straight ahead. Parking in the underground car park or behind the hotel is practical. So for one or two nights, if you don't do anything else in the hotel except sleep and have breakfast, it's OK.

We stayed at the hotel for one night on our way home from Italy.
Very nice breakfast buffet, starting at 6:30 a.m.
Rooms are spacious, some of the furniture is a bit old, but still OK.
In the warmer months, the roof terrace is definitely a nice place. There is also a really nicely designed common lounge area on the 3rd floor.
The area around the hotel is not particularly nice due to its proximity to the exhibition center. But you can walk to the Lindwurm in about 15 minutes.

Great location near the train station. Ample parking if you need to park a car. Housekeeping kept the room clean daily. Bed was too soft, not good for my back. Aircon didn’t work properly when I was there.

We got locked out of our room on the first night, after going out for dinner. As the reception shuts at 8pm, we rung the emergency number on the card, which went to voice mail. We left two messages, to date no one has returned our call, and so we slept on the sofas in the reception! No apology, and after persistence, I got my money back for the night. The hotel needs to review its out of hours procedure. The room was clean and tidy, and the breakfast good. However I would question whether its really a 4 star venue.
