Protea Hotel Klerksdorp

Not the best, good location

The building could do with a face lift and dinner was so bad but the breakfast was at least a bit better. The occupants above me made so much noise that I slept late but also had to wake up early because they continued with the noise when they woke up. The wifi was not stable

Convenient and very clean

My First stay at Protea Krugersdorp was a nightmare . We checked in effortlessly, but didn’t appreciate the fact that the hotel does not have a Porter Trolley to help carry our Bags from the Carpark. We stayed in room 215, (1st Floor on Right hand side) unfortunately we checked in Late (20:50 or so) we were too tired to even ask for a Room change. The room was not Nice. The Bathroom is So old their shower had soap scum Stains. Towels were Old & Discolored, one even had pinkish stains on it. Their toilet water Doesn’t have pressure so Doing a number 2 was a Nightmare For me (was sharing room with a colleague) I had to Flush 8 Times for it to Clear (Yes I Counted!) & lord Behold! At around 12am the Bathroom started giving the room a Sewerage Smell the Fridge in that Room is so old & filthy. I would Rather they ddnt even Put it in the room because WOW! It’s so Disappointing because our Travel agent told us this was the Best hotel in town. If this is the Best they have to offer , I would rather stay in Potchefstroom next time .

It was a comfortable indeed

Just after midnight we had drunk and unruly neighbours that came and started to be very noisy. They were very loud to a point I called reception to ask them to assist. Reception called them to tone down but instead it became worse. That went until 03:00am when we called reception to ask them if they are not capable applying the hotel policy. We asked if we should take matters into our and that is when they decided to move them to the second floor. What surprised me is that they negotiated with them instead of saying please lower voices because other guest are sleeping. One of the drunk neighbours told the hotel official that he won’t lower his voice and they allow this behaviour to continue for another two hours. The hotel staff on duty does not monitor guest behaviour instead we had to call them again to have them moved. I will never book Marriott in Klerksdorp ever again. I will rather use small bed and breakfast in Klerksdorp / Stilfontein. Preferably Potch road lodge. That is not the Marriott hotels I am used too. Clearly they just borrowed the name.

Great accommodation for people who need to stay overnight while visiting family in the area. The reservation was easy and with good reception upon arriavl. We will surely book in there again next time we visit Klerksdorp.

I ended up at the Protea Hotel in Klerksdorp where as always the rooms are adequate and clean. There was a pool and a garden area to sit in which was lovely. I did get a bed with two double beds in it….I knew understand why they do this? They also had a function on with very loud music and noisy and drunk patrons making a racket until midnight.l As usual my food was a mess. I am vegetarian and there is one pasta in the. Menu and lo and behold if I didn’t get sent the wrong pasta! I don’t know what it is with the Marriott group that they cannot sort out vegetarian food. 2 nights I. Klerksdorp and then off to Mahikeng where things went even further down hill.
