Nature Beach Resort, Koh Lanta

Wrong season come here....but overall ok

We’ve stayed here before, in one of the small fan only rooms in the gardens at the rear of the property so we were aware what we were getting and for the price it’s great. A wood bungalow, no fridge, 2 fans, one standing one on the ceiling, balcony with hammock and chairs, mosquito net which was more or less intact. The bed was comfy and we slept very well. Yes the room gets hot during the day but was cool enough at night for us to use the bedsheet. Room is clean and yes there are mosquitos and occasional bugs but you have to expect that in a wooden bungalow on a Thai island. Reception staff are efficient and friendly enough- they stored our bags while we spent one night in Lanta old town. Also the tour office made phone calls regarding a boat even though we hadn’t booked with him. It’s 5 minutes to one of Lanta’s nicest beaches and a few minutes to bars and restaurants. Compared to other hotels available, the price was very good and we guess we managed to pick up a cancellation at the price it was originally booked at, which was very welcome- Ko Lanta is becoming very expensive in February.

This hotel is fine if you just want a cheap room in a good beach location on lanta Close to all restaurants and activities. 18 pounds a night so can't really complain- however ! Would be nice if the lady at reception checking you in was more friendly and smiled once in a while! Double room with garden view gets a nice modern room on the other side of the road (not beach side) but this is quieter which is good. I tried out the bungalow at the front which was 28 pounds a night and it was seriously grotty in the bathroom and too noisy being by the pool and bar. Actually moved out of this place to a nicer more upmarket hotel (andalay boutique) which was about 60 pounds. Wasn't necessary for me to get a super cheap backpacker style room as I'm in my 30s! Nature beach resort has grubby broken sunbeds at the front and is very scruffy all round. But like I say- fine if you just want somewhere to sleep for a night or two and aren't bothered about having more ambience or a relaxing pool to sit by.

Cheap and cheerful. The rooms are dated and a bit tired but they are clean and at the price, you can't really complain. Food is not the best here but the bar is a great place to spend the evening. The barman is great and friendly and they have a new bar tender (Chai Ley, call him Ley), who is fantastic. He is working on his English but his smile is infectious. You find people who have been coming to the island for years stay here, so that is one of the best reccommendations you can have! Overall, basic, clean and allowed us to spend more money of food and booze! Another Tip!!!....Getting yourself from Krabi airport to Koh Lanta, use "Mun Lanta". Trust me "Mun Lanta" that is all you need to know!

Firstly the staff, food and service are great. Location is the perfect spot on the beach for swimming way better than the other end. Rooms look a little tired, AC in my room took awhile to kick in. Wifi is good in spots, my room not so good. The only annoying thing is people who think that they can mark their sunbed the night before. Really frustrating when coming out early in the morning to find one to meditate on at 7am. I wish someone would remove all towels and sarongs in the evening. I know they don't as I had a peek around 8pm. It's the same customers doing this with no respect for anyone else, it's not Benidorm! So these beds are empty part of the day. This is why I gave it a 3.

We enquired about a room as a walk-in and were shown a fan bungalow which is across the road from the beachside where reception, pool and restaurant are. There are actually a lot of rooms of different types in extensive grounds on the other side of the road so if you want beach side it’s best to check where your room is. The fan bungalow was a good size, wood construction with a balcony. The layout meant you were separate from neighbours. There was no mosquito net but we weren’t bothered by insects (though we had the occasional frog in the bathroom). The fan didn’t rotate but could be positioned at different angles and was cool enough at night, though the room became like a sauna through the day, probably because it’s sheltered from the breeze. It was clean enough although the cleaner only came in on request during the 3 days we stayed. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance though the resort is at the quieter southern end of Klong Nin. The beach in front of the hotel has a few rocks but it gets better a hundred metres or so further along. The sea is clear and warm in February though there were a few sea fleas-they seem to like Klong Nin beach we’ve found. The managers were friendly enough and spoke some English. There is a small pool which was full of families with small kids when we stayed. We paid around $15 per night which I felt was a fair price.
