I have never seen or been to a worse so called 5 star property. It is a horrible experience. Curd rice takes 1.5 hours to reach your room in the in room dining. Sugar sachets are generally sent with tea in a wet container making the sugar wet. Rooms are dirty and badly maintained. Staff are discourteous. Over all a disastrous stay and holiday. Please avoid at all costs

The property and the food were very good, we had a pleasant stay at Tamara-Kodai. And excellent service staff’s they were very friendly always smile on their face. Unfortunately we had bad experience with front desk staff Ms. Anindita. We settled our final bill at 12:20pm on 27th April 2024 and went to room to pick-up our luggage. We about to get into to our car at 12:40pm 27th April 2024 and suddenly Ms. Anindita stopped us, and forced us to pay additional amount for late check-out of Rs. 10,000/- + GST, which was really unfair. She was not even intimidated us while we settled our final bill at 12:20pm. After some arguments we were forced pay Rs. 11,800/- (inclusive of GST), it was embarrassing situation to us, we got cheated royally. It’s very unfair in making money from customers. We will not recommend Tamara-Kodai to any of our relatives and friends.

Disappointing service as staff was pre-occupied with a hi profile guest. Other tables were ignored in every meal and service. Areas were cordoned off. One day buffet lunch was delayed till 3:30 without informing the other guests because a large group was arriving late at 4. After booking for bird watching, the naturalist didn't turn up and they sent us alone in the dark without flash lights or sticks. A bison and lots of dogs roam in the neighborhood. On top of that the naturalist when called by the front desk refused to have met us and booked for a session. The front desk is so sloppy, their first response to any request is no. We had a spa session included and we had requested a call back from the spa desk to help with timings. No initiative from them to accommodate us because again they were full due to important "guests". On day of checkout after our complaint they hurriedly accommodated us when we were in no mood to get any service. A gentle*** with a cap roams around only acknowledging important guests and is courteous only to a few. Sadly servile attitude still prevails in our country, a hard working normal guest is a burden when government affiliated guests are staying here. The property is beautiful though but I am so soured by this experience that I will look for something else next time.

Our stay at Tamara Hotel was a disaster from the start. We did arrive early but had to wait over an hour for rooms with a toddler and elderly parents in tow. Assigned to the furthest corner, the rooms missed vanity mirror in one of the rooms, latch missing, hot side has cold water and vice versa, charging stations were also missing. The unresponsive staff offered a "complimentary high tea" as co****sation for the constant struggle to get basic services. Empty promises from corporate staff and claims of no available rooms, contradicted by online booking options, made us feel deceived. Unreliable communication and a wasted day due to unresolved issues left us frustrated. Not a great experience for my family and toddler at this hotel

We arrived early, around 11:20, only to be lied to by the incompetent reception staff. They claimed checkouts were "ongoing" and our rooms would be "ready in a few minutes." This turned into a ridiculous 60+ minute wait. With a family of 4 adults (2 over 60!) and a toddler, this is an outrageous delay. We finally received one room, missing the promised connecting door to the second. Disgusted, we decided to leave for a few hours. The rooms were assigned to the farthest corner of the property, a nightmare for anyone, especially our elderly parents. The "buggy service" was a joke, requiring constant calls just to get around. Upon returning, not only was the connecting door still non-functional, but none of the charging stations in one room worked! This was unacceptable as I, a working professional, needed to work. After repeatedly calling reception (over 90 minutes!), they "fixed" one charging port. This is a pathetic attempt to remedy a major inconvenience. My request for a room change or even a cancellation and refund was met with a laughable offer of "complimentary high tea." This does nothing to co****sate for the wasted time and frustration. The entire stay was a constant battle. The staff was completely unresponsive, requiring me to proactively chase them down for any service. In the evening, I again requested a room change, only to be made to wait further. This is unprofessional and disrespectful of my time. Their excuse of "no other rooms available" was a blatant lie. I could clearly see rooms available for booking online. This is deceptive and undermines any trust I had left. A supposed apology came from the corporate office at 7 pm, filled with empty promises and another "wait 10 minutes" for a room change. 45 minutes later, this "helpful" representative ignored my calls and texts. She eventually did speak to me stating that her working hours needed at 6 pm. Forced to return to reception, I was offered rooms that were equally inconvenient, further demonstrating their utter lack of effort. They could only offer "closer" rooms the next day, leaving us to suffer for another night. While there were other problems with the rooms themselves (Wi-Fi, latch, makeup mirror, unlit stairs) were frustrating, the real issue was the abysmal service. One entire day of our trip was wasted due to their incompetence, dishonesty, and complete lack of accountability. A complimentary snack is a slap in the face for such a disastrous experience. This hotel should be avoided at all costs. My recent stay at GRT Great Trails stands in stark contrast, offering exceptional service from the moment we arrived. Their staff was fast, friendly, and attentive, even providing rooms closer to the elevator for my parents. Tamara Hotel could learn a lot from them. This is an experience I deeply regret and would never recommend to anyone.

Visited the restaurant. The property is good and maintained and gives luxury vibes. But i felt the property has zero view of nature. As its in Kodaikanal i would prefer a resort with some valley view. But if luxury is your main preference you can choose this.
