The location is absolutely picturesque as it is on the serene banks of the beautiful Ashtamudi lake. The cottages are absolutely simple, rather bare with minimum amenities. Apart from a double bed and attached bath, there's nothing at all. However the staff are very courteous, helpful and polite. The approach road (200m) is scaringly narrow and one is wary of rubbing the sides of one's car ***** the left or right sides or slipping into the water! From that experience, I wouldn't want to go there again although the staff were very nice.

Force est de constater qu il existe un net décalage entre les avis tous ou presque dithyrambique et la réalité de cet hébergement certes assez bien place (quoique l on soit tributaire a 90% des rickshaws lies a la propriété). Le lac est face a vous, mais on ne peut que contempler les houses boat qui circulent entre Kollam et backwaters..les aigles qui chassent de petits poissons… 2 ou 3 hamacs sont éparpilles sous les arbres. Sinon, c est tres rustique, voire sommaire en termes de confort et d équipement. Les repas sur place sont tres limites en choix (crevettes ?! ou … tiger prawns ;-) L accueil est certes sympathique mais cela ne fait pas tout. L excursion a Munroe Island ne vaut pas le coup (villages sans interêts, pollution, fermes aquacoles …

Es waren sehr schöne interessante Tage bei Joseph und seinem brillanten Team. Sie haben uns hervorragend umsorgt und die gerade laufende Festival Woche bei den verschiedenen Tempeln gezeigt. Die kulinarische Verpflegung zu den Mahlzeiten hat uns geschmeckt.

Ashtamudi Villas is a wonderful oasis! Joseph and his staff are so welcoming and helpful. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable with high quality attached bathrooms. Joseph arranged a boat trip for us to Munroe Island and also took us to a local festival which was amazing. The boat picks you up and drops you back at Ashtamudi Viilas so you don’t need to do anything! All in all, a great place to stay. Green, shaded and peaceful right by the lake. Thank you Joseph & staff 🙏

A guesthouse located 15 min by auto rickshaw from Kollam train station is perfect for a tranquil and lovely stay south of the backwaters. Great location by the Ashtamudi Lake, this place is a hidden gem. Attentive and friendly staff, including Prabhat Joseph the owner, can assist you in many ways, including providing opportunities to see the surrounding communities off the beaten path. The guesthouse seems to attract like-minded foreigners, with whom sharing travel anecdotes and tips, which adds to the experience. You will be sad to leave Villas Ashtamudi. Highly recommended.

Well, u booked Ashtamudi villa thru *********** and I contacted me Joseph. He said he is out of town contact to manager. When I reached kollam I called manager he guided me to reach the property. I went to property met manager. But I couldn't stay there as I had to hurry immediately coz of some personal reasons. The manager was so helpful he helped us to call autorikshaw and guided how to reach our next destination. He was so polite, helpful and smiling person. The property was really good and away from disturbances and calm and quite. I will really recommend this property

We stayed there as a family of four. Excellent location, very helpful and courteous staff, always going the extra mile. The location is great with wonderful views. Boat tours can be arranged via them as well.I highly recommend this and would love to visit again.

Établissement tranquille au bord de l'eau dans un lieu exceptionnel avec un accueil aux petits soins. La chambre individuelle dans un bungalow est impeccable, lit confortable, service des repas en terrasse en pleine nature. Possibilité de faire du canoë sur le backwater. Excellent Wi-Fi. 20/20 nous recommandons vivement.

Beautiful location on the lake! Excellent meals, the host organize what you want par example backwaters in munroe island. There is a lovely garden with hammock where you can take a Snap. You can contact directly the host by whatsapp.
