Komandoo Island Resort & Spa

This was our 13th visit to this wonderful island. What more can we say? Every member of staff from the ladies who sweep the paths, to the barmen and waiters, to the reception and managers and everyone in between are a joy to meet. Everyone is friendly, helpful and efficient. Accommodation is comfortable, the island is pristine and quiet, the food is plentiful and delicious. Prodivers provide the dive centre and are excellent, as are the boat crews. What more could we ask? We look forward to our 14th visit.

We have just enjoyed a third trip to this magical island and it cast its spell over us again. The Champions are the stars of Komandoo and they will do whatever they can to make your stay the best it can be. Asim, who was our nominated waiter, was very engaging and soon learnt what we liked so was always one step ahead when we entered the restaurant. The team of chefs produced really good food with plenty of choice across all meals. Again, they learnt what we liked at breakfast and started preparing our food as we walked into breakfast each morning (we are creatures of habit!) Eshan made sure our villa was kept clean and tidy every day in a very unobtrusive way, making sure we had plenty of towels, toiletries etc. He left us some amusing towel art and lovely hand written messages throughout our stay. The team in the bar were great and introduced us to new drinks which we enjoyed. We were able to watch the IPL cricket each evening and had some great conversations with the team about who they supported. We had a fantastic holiday and will be returning to our bit of paradise.

It was my second time in Komandoo and I will definitely come back! Perfect destination to slow down, relax and find peace. Second home in heart!

My husband & I have recently returned from two weeks on this beautiful island. If you want to relax & recharge your batteries this is the place to visit. Everything you need is catered for whether at the bars or in the restaurants. The Champions are friendly & welcoming & we were lucky enough to have Waheed in Falhu Restaurant as our waiter, (he was getting our drinks ready before we sat down!) Also our room attendant Azmeel & his amazing towel art is a wonder & entertaining. Shout outs to Biji (you make great cocktails) Dicksharna (Falhu), Munish, Maryana (nothing is too much trouble for these champions at Reception) & Budi the chef who encourages you to try everything. Please note there is a dress code for men in the restaurant so covering your shoulders is expected. Remember to bring snorkels as the marine life is truly breathtaking & you don't want to miss seeing the turtles having breakfast. Also you really don't need shoes, perhaps one pair of flip flops. This place is a must.

Not much to say except that everything is magnificent. The welcome, the friendliness of the staff, the food (very wide choice, varied and excellent), the very cosy bungalow with a Maldivian bathroom, the upkeep and cleanliness of the island, the snorkelling, the massages, the peace and quiet, the very good cocktails (a little expensive à la carte between $16 and $18) but still 2 or 3 different suggestions every day for less than $10. In short, an idyllic holiday that we're looking forward to repeating.

First visit to Komandoo and overall we ( wife , daughter and myself) had a very relaxed and enjoyable holiday, largely contributed to by the friendliness and efficiency of all the staff. The rooms ( Coral ) were pleasant , reasonable size and comfortable with well stocked fridges. Maybe, a bit tired looking and had several problems with one of the door locks till replaced. Second week in water villas – sizeable well equipped rooms with plenty of loungers but last four/five steps into lagoon were very slippery – in fact dangerous and had to go down steps on backside! Food was a high standard throughout all meals with wide selection and themed nights were enjoyable. Aqua restaurant which we used twice was very good and 5.8, the underwater restaurant was excellent. Staff in restaurants from chefs to servers were all excellent , very friendly and helpful. Slightly longer opening hours at lunch and dinner would have been better. Bars- staff at both bars very friendly and particularly enjoyed the Thundi Bar. Various entertainment in the evenings which was enjoyable. The “All inclusive drinks” package was very extensive and only a few times had to pay extra for “ premium drinks”. Gym was well equipped and actually used by us on a few occasions! Spa was very pleasant and provided good range of treatments but would have been better with a more consistent pricing policy which seemed to vary every day. I am sure they would get more customers if they reduced all the prices by 20% rather than trying to persuade you to buy additional treatments at “ special prices” The best reef area for access and viewing was off the watersports beach which also had the best accessibility. Very low tides on the other side often made it difficult to swim out to the reef. Fish, turtles and sharks were reasonably plentiful . Felt that there should be better deals in providing snorkelling equipment- this is the first Maldivian hotel where we have had to pay for the snorkelling equipment ( cost us over $300 ). Wife and daughter each enjoyed 5 dives and we also went on a turtle and reef snorkel from Watersports which was excellent. The beach was attractive and regularly cleaned with plenty of bins available for the plastic waste regularly washed up onto the shore line. In summary we had a great holiday with thanks to all the staff who made it such a great experience .
