Matata is a gem, especially when it comes to service. Fiqa assisted us in so many aspects that goes beyond what is expected. The room for 3pax is very comfortable and clean. On our way back from Kudat , we decided to stay for another night in the same room, this time greeted by Zana.
The hotel is within walking distance to the market and the waterfront. The entrance was a bit confusing as there are two entrance way but one is not accessible. However, it was not a big deal.
One comment is that we hope that Matata can provide prayer mats for Muslims when requested.
We shall stay here again on our next trip.

I’ve stayed at Matata many times and always had a good experience, but this time the bed was very disappointing. The mattress felt like it was only springs left — every small movement made loud spring noises and it was extremely hard, as if there was no cushioning anymore. I never had this issue in my previous stays. I hope the owner can look into this as it really affects sleep quality. Everything else was good and the staff were very polite.

I really love this hotel. The location are very strategic, near to Gaya Street. During weekend, can experience the street food night market and also the morning market on Sunday. The room are so spacious, the mattress and pillow are so comfortable. So luck to get a lower floor room,it is just nice for me especially I’m on a short trip with my mother(senior citizen). The staff are so friendly and helpful. And I’m so in love with the simple yet modern interior design. Added with the jazz music as background sound, make us feel relaxing. Thank you for Matata’s staff services are so heartwarming. Definitely will come again during my next visit.

This is our first visit to Sabah. Booked the room based on the high reviews and am really happy with the decision. The location was strategic with lots of restaurants within walking distance and the place is quite a vibe with people dining in and people walking by the streets. There are lots of Convenience stores available around the hotel 24 hours. The reception was friendly upon checking in and checking out. The room was spacious for our family of four. Cleanliness is remarkable. Highly recommended!

The hotel surpassed all my expectations! The staff was welcoming and accommodating right from the moment we checked in. The room was clean, and the view of the city from it was splendid. I will certainly return during my next visit!
