This was my second visit to this camp. Mainly because I enjoyed the first visit. Unfortunately, I had issues. I have mobility challenges and had email before my arrival for a tent close to reception. I was using a walking stick, and my leg was strapped. However, we were given a garden tent, which was a fair way from reception and over very uneven ground/pathway. At the tent, there were several steps to the door. Also, the tent wasn't ready, problems with the electrics and the external furniture was not ready. I was upset at this point I was in a lot of pain. One of the staff asked what the problem was and after explaining I couldn't manage, his reply was "get a wheelchair". Rude, offensive and unhelpful. I brought my concerns to a manager who assured me that we would be moved to a different "very nice" tent in the morning. I left it there. However, we did not eat that evening as I couldn't make the walk to the dining room. The next day, I experienced some frostiness from the staff who were aware of what had transpired. Even those staff who were friendly and remembered us from last year were somewhat cool. We were moved to a tent which was fine but had no river views. I was aware of the high volume of rain and was informed riverbank tents were not being used. How is it possible, then, that i spoke to several different people who were in river bank tents. I will tolerate many things but being lied to is a step too far. The camp is quite large with a pool, restaurant, lounge area, bar, shop and reception. Tents are very large and well equipped with very good toiletries and terraces/balconies. Food is buffet style with good choices. Pool is OK but does need some renovation. Apart from the lush and well kept landscape, there are signs of age and neglect. They are renovating tents and that is a good start but there needs to be awareness of areas visible to guests such as broken tables, dumped, in view of diners.

Very nice camp in the heart of the Mara. We booked directly with Ashnil and did not regret it. Our driver Ezekiel was excellent and always willing to go the extra mile. The staff was extremely attentive (almost too attentive). Good game viewing close to camp and the sound of hippos overnight. Food was ok but not great.

Two nights and we are still amazed by the place, service and hospitality front the staff. The camp is an hours drive into the park, close to the river. The “tents” are of the highest quality and sleeping while you can hear the sound of the wilderness just outside is an experience for life. The food is magnificent and the staff make the meals really good. We will miss them all, specially Amos.

We had an amazing experience. Rooms were very clean and cozy, nice pool and well maintained grounds, overall a very welcoming ambience. The highlight of my trip was the food which was delicious and extremely flavourful. I can't even begin to describe the desserts....so delicious. A big thank you to Ashnil Mara staff and by extension Boniface Kimeu who gave us excellent service the entire weekend. Kudos

We loved our stay at the Ashnil Mara Camp. The facilities were great and the customer service was amazing! All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was tasty and they packed us a lot for our breakfast boxes. It was the ideal place to stay when visiting the Mara.

Our family had a great time and wonderful experience at this lodge! Their website and pictures need to be updated, because everything looks much better in person. I was a little nervous since I think it is classified as a 3 star lodge, but from the moment we arrived to the moment we departed, we were extremely impressed by the grounds, food, tent lodging, and the 5 star friendly customer service. The restaurant area and lounge area by the river would be a very nice and a great setting, even if it wasn't right next to the river with hippos within eyesight and earshot. The "tents" are very nice on the inside, shower/bathrooms are high quality, and beds super comfortable. We loved using the pool after long game drives. We wish we would have spent more nights here, and less nights at another lodge that is classified as a 5 star.

The staff's smiles, location, food, and cocktails are wonderful. I was welcomed like family. It took me 24 hours to get here from Japan, but I would like to stay again. I don't want to praise it too much because it will become even more popular and the next fee will rise. Not only the rooms, but also the outdoor terrace, terrace beds and chairs, pool water, rooms, towels, and toilets are all clean. There are some bugs, but there were no flies on the food in the restaurant. I get the impression that they pay attention to hygiene. There are few drawbacks. I'm writing this because it would be a problem if it becomes too popular. There is no phone, so you have to walk to the front desk every time you need to borrow something. Some people may find it a little far. However, rooms that are too close to the lobby may be noisy with passersby returning to their rooms. When I closed the safe according to the instructions, it would no longer open because the previous person's number was still there (the staff fixed it for me). There may be rooms that require some skill to lock. There was a power outage at dawn. The hot water bottle leaked. It can be charged, but not quickly. There are too many good points to write about. The souvenir shop has reasonable prices. The staff is very kind and doesn't try to sell you anything. I was able to take my time choosing until I found my favorite. The laundry and cocktails are both reasonably priced. The room doesn't have air conditioning, but it's cool and breezy because it's a double-roofed tent, so I was able to take a comfortable nap even when it was hot outside. There were many animals nearby. I was able to see a large group of lions, baby lions, and cheetah brothers. It's far from the airport in Nairobi and close to the Tanzanian border. If you like borders, please request it. As soon as we left the gate, a giraffe was lying in wait. In the evening, I saw fireflies flying on the way back to the room from the lobby. There were also water bucks on the opposite bank of the river. I was happy. On the last day, we left at 4:30 in the morning for a hot air balloon. The location was near Fig Tree Camp. There is no accounting staff early in the morning, so we have to check out the night before. We checked out after dinner, but in the morning, we found out that the charge for drinks at the last dinner was not included. The credit card machine was not working because it was early in the morning, and I was confused because they said they didn't have any change for large bills (I asked them firmly and they provided some change). On the way to Fig Tree Camp, we saw many hyenas and jackals, as if we were at a night safari. My husband, son and daughter are shy, but they learned Swahili and Maa from Moses and Kimpai and had a great time. They also learned Swahili songs and sang them. Kenya and Japan are far apart, but I am grateful for the heartwarming exchange we had. Thank you very much.

The setting is magnificent, the decoration tasteful. The a**osphere is calm and relaxed. The best point is the service: a staff always smiling and ready to please. Special mention for Chris, Boni and Kennedy who accompanied us throughout our stay, for our greatest pleasure! Thank you very much to the Masai Mara for having done everything possible to organize our engagement proposal… a perfect moment that will remain memorable!
