We really liked this place. It was a nice, traditional looking place. The entrance was covered in art by a local artist. The first room has a traditional table. I’m not sure what the name is but you basically sit on the floor with your feet in a pit under the table. It’s not exactly great getting in/out for someone like me with bad knees but, while in Japan, might as well try it out. The traditional Japanese breakfasts were served at that table. It was all veg and healthy, but I enjoyed it anyway! The whole place was very nice. We liked the overall aesthetic. I appreciated the nighty night tea they prepared each night. There was a nicely landscaped area out back. Bring a personal fan because the bathroom is a separate room outside the house (as per local regulations) and it is HOT (really, really HOT) out there. There is a l washer/dryer which was very convenient. Overall, the experience was great. We enjoyed having the opportunity to get more of the Japanese experience rather than just staying at a traditional hotel. It’s nice to experience the culture. I would definitely recommend staying here. The one thing that really bothered me was the fact that we went out during the day and they came in and shut off the A/C while we were out. It took several hours to cool the place back off once we got home. This is a hotel that I am paying for and, if I decide to run the A/C while I go out so that it is not disgustingly hot when I get back, that should be up to me. I get that you want to save money but I’m on vacation and I paid to be comfortable. I felt that was overstepping on their part. That is the only issue that prevented me from giving 5 stars.
