Hotels in Gion/Kiyomizu Temple, Kyoto

Booked for 2 nights, the price was very cheap, and I booked an extra night because I had no plans to travel. The room was large, very comfortable, and convenient for travel. There was also a free hot spring, but there was only one elevator, and the staff and guests took the same ride. So you have to wait to go up and downstairs

My family and I truly enjoyed staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Higashiyama during our recent trip to Japan. We found the rooms clean and elegant and the food in the restaurant to be very good. However the one thing that truly stood out was the warm and gracious service we received during our stay. Service: The service we received was truly above and beyond expectations. We had flown in on a red-eye flight from Singapore the night before our stay and were dead tired by the time we got to the hotel. The next day, we realized that our camera was missing and checked with the hotel if someone had turned it in. The front desk told us no one had, but then proceeded to help us trace back our steps to the last time we saw our camera at a restaurant in the Osaka airport. They then proceeded to call the restaurant for us and helped schedule a pick-up time for us at the airport lost and found. We are forever grateful for the hotel's front desk's help in finding our camera! Location: The hotel is conveniently located in the Higashiyama area of Kyoto. From the hotel, we were able to easily take short cab rides to local sites such as Kiyomizu-dera and the Kyoto National Museum. The hotel is also conveniently located near Kiyomizu-Gojō Station. Rooms: The rooms were absolutely spotless and clean. The beds were comfortable with thick bedding (perfect since the weather was on the cool side when we were there). The restroom was also split between a room containing the shower and tub with the toilet in a separate room. Dining: At the hotel, we had dinner one night and breakfast the two mornings we were there. Everything that we tried was very well prepared and delicious. At dinner we ordered a variety of plates to share including a salad, pasta, fish dish, and dessert. Breakfast was served in buffet format and included a variety of both Japanese and Western options. Overall we truly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future!

Don't know why but I fell in love with this hotel. Modern, clean, always with good music and smell, well furnished with wood, concrete, and plants, with a lovely bakery at the entrance, and a fantastic restaurant serving a delicious and abundant breakfast. The room was very well modernly furnished. They offer you many experiences, and even an electric bike to visit Kyoto (that I really enjoyed). The staff was very friendly, even if sometimes it was struggling to talk due to poor English knowledge. It is very close to Higashiyama and Gion, which you can reach by walking 15-20'. The rooftop bar serves excellent cocktails. Additionally, the price is low for the service and the quality offered! FANTASTIC!

The Japanese-style room had a nice atmosphere, and the futon was fluffy, so I slept soundly! The breakfast had more variety than I expected and was delicious! It wasn't a large room, but the cost performance, location, cleanliness, and service were all perfect! The person at the front desk was also very nice! The room type I stayed in seemed inconvenient for people with large luggage such as trunks, so I think it would be a good idea to get a larger room.

The room is spacious and clean. The neighborhood is quiet and very comfortable.

We stayed here for two nights from October 5-7 and have no complaints about the service and care we received. This is renovated primary school, but you wouldn't know it from how it has been remodeled. Though we did like the wide stairways with wooden bannisters that retained a little of the ”school” feel. The overall atmosphere of the hotel and its grounds is very calming; a nice oasis from the bustle of the city. The room was a good size with very good amenities that made the stay convenient and comfortable. The in-room bar was complimentary and restocked daily. We also had access to the lounge which had free flowing snacks and beverages throughout the day. It was nice to sit next to the window with a warm beverage or a glass of wine after a long day of trekking across the city. We ate in the city, but also made a point to try all of the places to eat in the hotel. We had breakfast on the outside terrace of the main restaurant. The ”well-being” breakfast was healthy and hearty; very filling. We liked that the breakfast was ”by order” rather than buffet. Buffets can be tiring when you just want to sit comfortably on a terrace, enjoying the morning with a cup of coffee. We had one dinner at Benoit, the French restaurant. We tried three mains as part of two set meals we ordered: Sea Bass, Lobster, and Pork Loin. All were done very well. For a late supper, we had a steak on the Rooftop Lounge. The chef himself, strongly suggested I order a different wine with the steak as he felt it complimented it better. It was actually a cheaper wine than I had ordered, so I appreciated that it was a true recommendation. We followed dinner with cocktails in the bar, where the bartender apparently is rather well-known in Kyoto. He certainly had admirers watching him as he made the drinks. The hotel general staff and concierge were all very helpful, helping us reserve cars and check to make sure that our destinations were convenient for our purposes. They also follow-up with us to see if what they had suggested worked out. The only suggestion is to make sure that you leave plenty of time for arriving and leaving. The hotel is right in the middle of a major tourist area. There are many temples in the area, and the streets are lined with tea houses, places to eat or buy souvenirs, and places just to discover or wander about. So depending on the time of day, the traffic can be very congested. That said, from the hotel it's only a 20-minute walk to Nishiki market and the areas around it. Overall, an excellent stay. We would definitely consider the hotel again for any future trip we might have to Kyoto.

The hotel was as new, modern, clean and clean. Excellent facilities. Breakfast was typical Japanese/Eastern, but varied and complete (worked from 7 to 9 hours). The room was spacious enough, good for the Japanese standards, the bathroom was a little tight, the location was excellent, just next to Kiyomizu Gojo train station and 15min walk from the Gojo metro station. The old Gion neighborhood was 5min walk and the moving streets of Kawaramachi about 20. We felt that we were in the perfect place to meet Kyoto for the first time. The only reason for the location is that it is even sticked to one of the most important and most moving streets of the city, because the noise of cars and buses is constant overnight and day.

It's beautiful hotel which has own shuttle buses to Kyoto station. They pay attention to every detail and every aspect. Service is superb. hotel staffs are very friendly and so polite. They welcome you from the beginning outside hotel. Greeting every time they see you. Shuttle buses drives are extremely helpful and friendly.! Breakfast are always great. Morning chef is amazing and kind. Thank you. And please give my best regards to him. Me and my parents had lovely time during stay. And if not because we booked hotel another week at Osaka, we sure would love to stay another week. My father still talk about the trip at your hotel while we stay at Imperial Hotel Osaka. When I saw the 24-hour check-in, I thought someone had checked in, so I went to a pad and asked me to self-check in. The important thing is that I couldn't receive the email, so I didn't have a passcode. I just looked at the front desk and there was a phone, and I thought to myself. I can't figure it out, so I climbed in. Fortunately, there is hotline support in different languages. Finally, the dog rushed to the phone booth to call hotline, hit the left twice to get all the information first, and then there was no money to show off at that time and some training. The location is on the left side, but it is very close to Kiyomizu Temple. There are taxi stands nearby, so it is difficult to find wild food at night. As soon as I entered the room, there was a strong stench, which was the smell of rain from wet shoes.

This was by far the best accommodation we stayed in during our trip to Japan. I was a bit hesitant to book it as other reviews said it’s far away from everything, but it’s not. A short/cheap taxi from the train station (1000-1200 Yen) self-serve check in and self-serve luggage storage (which was a blessing!) We stayed in an apartment, spacious, modern, clean, separate bedroom, washer/dryer, bath and shower and full kitchen. I would live in this apartment if I could! There are staff in the reception area during certain times if you need help. The bus stop is right around the corner. Food options nearby.
