The only way to experience Machu Picchu (if you have the means) is to stay at Sanctuary Lodge. Loved every minute.

Wow! What an experience at this hotel! Yes, pricey but worth every penny. There are abundant amenities provided, and full board option is filled with delicious and thoughtfully curated meals. And the location can't be beat! We were able to visit Machu Picchu 3 times within just our short 24 hour stay. Though the property is small, the food, location, and ambiance (there is a private orchid garden on site!) make it worth the splurge. Huge shoutout to Karen (helped us check in and answer any questions), Orlando (helped us on multiple occasions, especially when I had hurt my ankle- brought ice to our room himself), and Christian (the best waiter ever, educated us about Peruvian cuisine, and kept us entertained the entire dinner.) Wish we had more time there!

Our family of six enjoyed a magical visit to Machu Picchu and the Sanctuary Lodge. One day is not enough to take in everything Machu Picchu has to offer so including a stay at the Sanctuary Lodge allowed us to get the most out of our trip. This property is steps away from the entrance to MP and is the perfect place to start and end the day. We were able to avoid the larger crowds with an afternoon visit to Machu Picchu which meant that we weren’t fighting for the best views or photo opportunities. Returning to the Lodge, we were met with smiles and multiple places where we could sit back and relax. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the room charge and are not to be missed. The breakfast buffet started at 5:30 am and had something for everyone. The Sanctuary Lodge reserved the Wayna Picchu hike experience for our family. It started at 7:00 am so we really appreciated the opportunity to start the day with a tasty breakfast. Lunch and dinner were filled with a wide range of options so there is something for everyone. There is a gift shop on site where I was able to find some great souvenirs without having to spend an afternoon wandering through the markets. Every detail is thoughtfully planned, including the surprise departure gifts. The Sanctuary Lodge is not a huge hotel so it was easy to meet some of our fellow travelers. From start to finish, the Sanctuary Lodge made our Machu Picchu visit even more memorable.

This stay was worth every penny. The service team lead by Ruth truly made our stay so amazing and they were so kind the entire time. Private tour of Machu Picchu with Jackie was incredible, we went as soon as it opened and it made the experience so much better. Jhon and Sebastian and arrival and departure in Aguas Calientes made everything so seamless. Alexander and Arzon in the restaurant were amazing and the table side chilli sauce preparation was so awesome! Food was fantastic but the staff made the experience incredible.
