positiv: - Mitarbeiter in der Bar und im Restaurant: sehr zuvorkommend und aufmerksam - Garten: ist wunderschön mit vielen schönen Pflanzen und auch Tieren - Essen in der Poolbar/ Pool-Restaurant: war wirklich gut und es gab von allem etwas und somit war für jeden etwas dabei - Leitungswasser absolut genießbar, kein Chlorgeschmack etc. negativ: - Mitarbeiter Rezeption: kein herzlicher Empfang - sehr kühl und es wurden Infos zum Ablauf im Hotel bzgl. Bänder nicht mitgeteilt - Zimmer: sehr alt, in entsprechend schlechtem Zustand und abgewohnt. Daher überhaupt nicht gemütlich. Das Badezimmer ist gefühlt so alt wie die Hotelanlage selbst und daher auch etwas „mitgenommen“. Auch die Dächer der Hütten sind zum Teil in sehr schlechtem Zustand mit vielen Wasserschäden. - Thermal-Landschaft/Pools: die Wege und Einstiegsstellen der Pools waren zum Teil sehr verdreckt mit Tierscheiße (kein Mitarbeiter putzte es weg) und das Wasser der Thermalbecken und des Pools waren zum Teil sehr schmutzig (Fettfilm auf dem Wasser, Haare schwammen überall). Auch waren zum Teil kaputte Liegen am Pool. - Preise: die Preise an der Bar bzw. Im Restaurant sind auf USA- Niveau. Wir haben eine zusätzliche Guacamole angefragt und bekamen ein winzig kleines Schälchen für 5 Dollar(!!!!). Das war für uns etwas unverschämt wenn man den Zustand und die Kategorie des Hotels betrachtet. Fazit: Wir haben uns sehr auf den Stopp gefreut - gerade weil die Bewertungen und Bilder wirklich toll aussahen. Leider wurden wir hier aber sehr enttäuscht. Mit kleinen Handgriffen könnte das Hotel so viel mehr aus der Anlage machen, dann wären auch die Preise gerechtfertigt. Die Sauberkeit der Anlage müsste dringend in Angriff genommen werden, sowie die Renovierung der Zimmer. Aktuell können wir es somit nicht empfehlen und würden definitiv ein anderes Hotel auswählen

This place is huge , and has pros and cons . It’s a long walk from some rooms to springs/ restaurants, which anyone with mobility difficulties would find a problem . The springs on site were throughly enjoyable. The massage we all had was excellent. Our rooms were smallish, but with a nice patio. Lots of bird life to be seen from there, and also an armadillo wandered past ! We found the outdoor restaurant much better than the indoor one, a better choice of both food and cocktails. The riding some of our group went on from here was very enjoyable, they went through rivers, to a waterfall on well cared for, well mannered horses . We weren’t impressed with the breakfast either. I’m guessing most of the other hotels in the area have their pros and cons too, so choose wisely.

Only stayed 1 night as part of a tour but wished we could have stayed a day longer. Lovely spacious room and bathroom. 2 big double beds and air con. Buffet breakfast was very good quality, more choice than other Costa Rican hotels we’ve stayed in and the restaurant was large and airy. We never tried the hot springs as our tour took us to a separate hot spring venue. Gardens were well kept. There was a cockerel near our room ( 203) that was a bit noisy and a few ants in the room that gathered under luggage etc but no bites!

This was a beautiful spot to stay on our 10 day tour of Costa Rica's Natural Wonders. We were fortunate that the weather was beautiful and sunny so we had spectacular views of the volcano every day. Meals in the restaurant were delicious...full breakfast buffet with delicious coffee. The pool was lovely and as you walked up the hillside, the thermal pools got increasingly warmer. Very few people there so you could sit in the pools quietly and enjoy the healing warmth. Oh yes, and a swim up bar...Our room was clean and well appointed with comfy beds. Staff were friendly and helpful.

This is a 2 star resort dressed up as a 5. Looks beautiful on the outside but there are issues. Having hot water in the shower was not reliable. The food was cafeteria quality. The mineral hot springs had meningitis warnings. For the price of two drinks at the bar you could buy a bottle or a case of beer in town.

The best part about this hotel is the view of the volcano. Otherwise, it's very underwhelming. The rooms are just okay, and the bathrooms are terrible with a very unreliable shower that changes constantly from hot to chilly water and high and low water pressure. Honestly, if the resort were to renovated the bathrooms, it would make a huge improvement. The swimming pool is extremely deep for children, and not relaxing for adults because of the depth. There was also much debris, such as leaves and other items in the pool. The breakfast was completely disorganized with a poor selection of options and not enough tables and only one person seating a line of 20 families who had to get to early morning tours. The breakfast lines were long, and people waiting for the egg station blocked the entire line without any employees instructing people to move out of the way. There wasn't even real butter served, it was a cheap margarine product. The food at the outdoor restaurant was okay, yet very expensive, as were the drinks. This resort has no business not having hot showers yet charging $10 for a few tablespoons of wine. I do have to say that the employees at this resort were friendlier than those at other resorts and were quite helpful. If I were to go back to La Fortuna, I would stay at one of the nicer boutique hotels in the town.
