Second visit to the Sunborn hassle started at check in reception saying we had booked b and b when he had booked half board. First night meal was lovely second night no dessert that we ordered and we had another guest that spent all evening swearing and humiliating his wife at the top of his voice all through our meal. Last evening we had to wait 45 minutes for our starter as the staff seemed only interested in sniffing around the owner and his friends who were also eating in the restaurant. Then to finish of the whole experience when we checked out we were faced with a £271 bill for our evening meals which we thought had been sorted at check in so again more hassle sorting this out again.

Location is perfect t get to either side of the rock. Room was clean with a comfortable bed. Nice terrace to have breakfast and even a few beers late on.. staff where excellent. Especially a girl called Milly on front desk. She was great to talk to and get useful information about places to go. 10/10.

The hotel that stayed after going to Gibraltar, there is no feature, it is convenient to stay, parking is free, and it is good for continuing the trip the next day. Breakfast was not eaten, not good comment

This is a lovely hotel…. Sp pretty with columns and alcoves. For the first night I booked dinner B&B….. the food was delicious! Dinner was 5 courses but included the best Broccoli au Gratin I ever tasted and included a glass of red wine. I expected the wine to be tough but it was actually very good! I did not try the open air swimming pool but in this heat it was an option … nearby beach was crowded and with fascinating container port nearby I found it hard to believe the water was bathing quality! 8€ taxi ride from bus station. Staff were unfailingly helpful and courteous. Next time I will ask for a room with a mountain-view. I stayed a second night … trip charged me a higher price? I also took their Day Excursion to Morocco…€72 but add on €40 for tips! It included return ferry, transport, guide and Moroccan lunch ( delicious) … driver, his friend, guide and me on a 32 seater bus! Obligatory “buy a carpet” talk at “craft school” ( Omg I bought a carpet!) … hold out for the trinkets shop on the way out!!! 4 hours to get back through customs … queues…. But it was fascinating v and an unexpected glimpse into border mentality. 4 layers … Moroccan military check, Moroccan police check, Spanish police check and Covid certificate check and final layer …. Spanish guards emptying and checking every car and finding something to throw away from everyone!!!! Two days feels like a wonderful week!

The owner is friendly and a bit old, but it is clean and has everything you need. There is a rest area and kitchen refrigerator on the rooftop, so you can eat something. You can boil hot water in the morning and drink coffee.

I booked this for my husband and I but when they sent the confirmation it was only for 1 adult. Immediately I emailed them to advise the error. Two more emails sent and still waiting for a response!!!! Tried calling but also useless. When we arrived, explained the situation but they didn't care. Went on to charge 18€ for 2 days breakfast. I'll come onto that in a bit!!!! As soon as we got to the room, I emailed to complain and yes, still waiting for a response. The room.......beds squeaked every time you moved and the breaks didn't work so they moved all over the place. Half a toilet roll which was never replaced. Good job we take our own. Had to use the duvet as a second pillow. You'd think when cleaning the room the chambermaid would notice the lack of loo roll & clearly additional pillows were needed. On the last morning, I woke to a bed bug crawling up my arm. Breakfast...... diabolical. For the amount they charge it's a disgrace. The ”hot” food was cold. The milk was on the turn and the pastries were rubbish. Only 3 choice for cereal. The toasters were rubbish.

Disappointed with our stay once we realised that staff took no notice of our requests. Nice room, but marred by the fact that the air conditioning broke, and the hotel staff did absolutely nothing about it. There was also a couple in the room below us smoking **** on their patio, which stunk our room out, (window wide open because air con failed) and again, staff did nothing to stop this. When we complained about the lack of maintainance at check out the following morning, reception staff looked at me in amazement as clearly, she knew nothing about it, even when we told her we'd had no sleep at all and proceded to start to make a phone call ( to maintainance?) but we just walked off to be honest as we were leaving anyway. Average breakfast, no sauna or treatment room. This is one of the reasons we booked this hotel so we could have peace and quiet, and relaxing massages as treats. Poor gym with no air con and sun lounger mats for the pool we realised on the morning we were leaving, were stacked up in the rear of the restaurant, so we never used the pool because I suffer with back and hip problem so cannot lay directly on the hard plastic. We used the L shaped area with comfy cushions at the end of the pool bar to relax but when we came down to sit there on our last day, staff had taken all the cushions away, and put them in a cupboard in the gym area. Needless to say, we retrieved them and made ourselves comfortable. The bar area incidently outdoor was never staffed. Aside from our poor stay at the Exe, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening strolls into the vilage for evening meals, and can highly recommend Restaurante Yerbabuena which serves superb plates and the little pizza place next door but one is lovely The village locals are friendly, prices are low, and we also had a lovely morning at the zoo which is a rescue centre. We were just gutted the tiger cub was only 10 days old, so we couldnt hold her. Would we stay at the Exe again, ? On principle , no, as it seemed hotel staff couldn't have cared less.
